REDaction Update - Villarreal and the FA Cup Semi

Post by Boomer »

Latest email....

A couple of quick things to tell you about, before tonight's game and the FA Cup Semi.

First and foremost, we want to ensure we have a fantastic atmosphere tonight, to really play our part as the 12th Man. Please bring (or buy) your scarves. We also have a huge new flag, making its debut in block 6 this evening, a photo of which is here (ed:and pasted below)- http://i44.tinypic.com/b61ul4.jpg - it is 12 metres by 12 metres, so will cover the whole of the REDsection. If you see people that need help getting it into place, please offer your help - it should look fantastic.

Last night, 2 members of our mailing list presented an award to Robert Pires, at the Villarreal training session. We hear that Robert was absolutely stunned, but incredibly pleased. Good - he's a legend who deserves to know that Arsenal fans love him. We'll have photos and a "match report" available asap.

Its the FA Cup Semi Final on Saturday, so please wear red. Maybe the Chelsea fans will have their little chequered flags again, maybe they won't. If you saw their contrived bout of flag waving on TV last night (after booing their team off at half time, and being outsung all game by 3,000 Scousers), you will know that their club make lots of effort to pretend they have real fans and a real atmosphere. For a game as big as that, we'd like to think that Arsenal fans can still create atmosphere ourselves - even if we struggle to make noise for some of the "smaller" games. Let's show that to all the chavs watching on TV tonight - then give them some more proof, up close and personal, on Saturday. http://bit.ly/6vCB9
COME ON ARSENAL!!

Can't wait either though. I understand the theme (nationalities of the team) but I'm not entirely happy with the choose of name. "united" :?

Victory Through Harmony would have better suited.
That said at least the effort has been made.

Why is there a Czech flag on it? We don’t have any Czech players do we? :?

I once heard about a mythical creature that was a distant relative of The Gruffalo, think it was called a Rosickalo, that hailed from that part of the world & was supposedly spotted around the green fields of N5. But I don’t think he really exists!

Seriously though, not trying to criticise for the sake of it cos I genuinely like the flag, but what happens if (hopefully when) say Adebayor leaves in the summer? Do we colour in the Togo flag with a Swaziland one when we buy his replacement?

I did think that about it saying united, but the view that you get from the picture posted highlights that area of the flag, laid out entirely it may not be so obvious.

also its my understanding that the flags are removable and interchangable so when we do sell that greedy fcukwit and rosicky finally goes the way of the dodo they can change them.

The idea is that the flags are changeable - so we could put any new national flags over the top.

Indeed, on the "United" thing, I believe it says "United Colours of Arsenal"

If so that's actually a quality idea, cheers for the info 12th.
