[quote="g88ner"]Song = The New Vieira?
I still think that ultimately Diaby will be the best defensive midfielder out of the current crop of youngsters that we have, and I think that he was showing that ability before he got injured. Technically Diaby has what Vieira had at the same age, but he now starting to add some steel to his game and is not dwelling on the ball too long.
Song has improved but I don't think he is the long term answer to the Vieira type player that we need.

Confidence is making a huge difference for Song and some of the other young players. I started a thread maybe 6 weeks ago about Song; it isn't a big surprise to see the lad doing so well for us , you could see he was starting to really get the hang of things around the time of the Burnley cup game.
This has been a strange season, but who'd bet against the boys turning Chelsea over on Saturday?

My comment was tongue in cheek, really.MickeyFabs wrote: Song has improved but I don't think he is the long term answer to the Vieira type player that we need.
I'm delighted for Song; he's playing well and looks full of energy, too.
That said, I DEFINATELY want Wenger to sign a holding midfielder over the summer!
Same thought here...g88ner wrote:My comment was tongue in cheek, really.MickeyFabs wrote: Song has improved but I don't think he is the long term answer to the Vieira type player that we need.

I'd be very surprised if that happened to be honest. Song, Denilson and Diaby have done enough to make him think twice about paying big money for a central midfielder.g88ner wrote:That said, I DEFINATELY want Wenger to sign a holding midfielder over the summer!
Should we bring home a trophy I don't think there's a chance for him to sign one.
And with our league run and cup run I can't say that I would complain about that. We badly missed that big signing for the first half of the season, but Song, Denilson and Diaby have come of age now.

Denilson is gone to absolute shit
