Kieran Gibbs

Post by Martin Hayes »

So, after all the unneccessary hype, in which it was suggested that Ronaldo would destroy our No.40, Kieran was quite magnificent...

Good enough to make the left-back slot his own?

Outstanding second half, even more so considering the absolute disgraceful "performance" from Diaby in front of him. I'd take a team of 11 Gibbs over an Adebayor or Diaby and day.

Bad start and it cost us but he didn't let it get to him and kept out two superb players. Good on him, just wish he had shot rather then passed when he broke upfield

Gibbs deserves a starting place. He was by far the most consistent & apart from Almunia he put on a man of the matc performance. Clichy's lapses have costed us before & I believe he needs a spell on the sidelines to improve & realise that he's got strong competition.

Gibbs performance put the likes of Greedy Diaby Walcott Song and even Fabregas to shame.
But we all know Wenger will drop him whan Clichy is fit :banghead: :banghead:

He gets better every game that he plays IMO, a better crosser than Clichy, (and Sagna for that matter), he'll be one hell of a player and will be challenging for Clichy's position next season. (Traore will be sold during the summer, not required)

He has jumped from reserve football to playing against chelsea, liverpool and man utd all in a month. I think he's performances deserve great credit

After the Wigan game i was a bit worried about Gibbs not being ready, but i was wrong, he has put the his more experienced colleagues to shame tonight, he deserves to keep his place even if Clichy is fit next week, this could give us an opportunity to try out Gael at left midfield.

Excellent performance.

Talk of him displacing Clichy is very premature though. I'd like to see Gibbs given a go further forward, or in tandem with Clichy on the left (we don't really have any natural wingers and Arshavin is cup tied)... he was excellent at the start of last season in that position. He also loves getting forward and shooting (his cracker vs Stoke? in the reserves)

I thought he looked exactly as a reserve player playing first team football would look.......Vulnerable. Yes he got away with his mistakes and didn't get quite as exposed as he did against the bin dippers, he also played better than some of the first team, ARE YOU LISTENING GREEDYBASTARD  I sure as hell aint excited about trying to qualify for the Champions League Final with him as left back and hope to dog that Clichy is back

Not quite as negative as Mutley but I have to say he was horribly out of position a number of times tonight, even as CF at one stage, but he has been outstanding as a reserve LB and if I were Clichy I'd be worried.

He was one of our best players tonight. :barscarf:

I'm not being negative, the kid did well not to drown considering he was thrown in the deep end well out of his depth, he managed to tread water quite well, just wouldn't want him as a lifeguard if I were drowing
