Interesting article, which led me to wonder how many gooners actually do reckon that selling Henry was a mistake, or indeed who would want him back? Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but until halfway through last year the decision to let Henry go looked inspired as the team he left behind grew up in his absence and played with more freedom and less pressure, and he himself struggled with fitness and form in Barcelona. Since then his form has picked up, but I personally wouldn't like to see him back in Arsenal colours.
His form in the 2006/7 season was mediocre (especially compared to 30-goal hauls for each of the previous five seasons), he clearly wanted to leave and it affected his game. Would his desire to leave have ever abaited? I doubt it. His teammates have since spoken of the benefits to their game since Henry left. He was a very big character at the club and evidently wielded much influence. The article argues that Wenger should've stood up to Vieira and Henry, but haven't we learned lessons about convincing players who aren't 'up for it' anymore to stay on - how detrimental has Adebayor's presence at the club been this season, for example?
Also, on a less objective note - it fucked me off big style when he left, not least because he would've realised his ambition of the winning the European Cup if he could've learned to perform on the big occasion, but also because of the way it seemed to become almost inevitable, in the same way it did with Vieira. I loved Vieira at Arsenal, but was overjoyed in a kind of childish "ha ha, in your face!" way when we knocked Juve out in 2006, and would love it even more if we beat Henry's Barcelona in the final this year. I think gooners on the whole wish players well when they leave and respect their Arsenal service - Pires' return with Villareal last month a case in point - but when they're gone they should stay gone. Would I welcome back Henry or Vieira? Not a chance.
Let's look to the future, and let's win tonight and again in Rome and make the current squad go down in history. Erm, please.
The folly of selling Henry has become clear

Henry was outstanding against Real Madrid last weekend and playing like that I'd welcome him back with open arms. But let's be honest, he was a demotivational captain and but for Eduardo's grotesque injury we could have won the title last season anyway. Still, fingers and toes crossed for TH14 and barcelona tonight and again in Rome!

Henry left for his own reasons
Does anyone NOT know he left because it saved him a packet in his divorce?
For fuck's sake shut up with this nonsense about us selling him, he was hardly going to be a great player with us costing him half his millions, was he? As it is we made a nice profit on the transfer.
