Emirates Cup

Post by the_gooner89 »

Eboue and Hleb have taken a lot of critics on this site and im sure if they have been watching pre-season yo will get impresion your wrong, i hope anyway becuase they are both playing very well and have been for some time now eboue is very exciting to watch and hleb has the quickest feet ive ever seen. They both deserve a bit more praise from us gooners, they are impressive the just ned a little more time.

Pleased with the way we have played and looking forward to the seaosn.

Regards rik

One Swallow does not make a summer :!:

Glad we won the tournament and think it will do morale a world of good but hope Arsene does bring in a couple more before the big kick off.

A good show in the Amsterdam games will help build belief as well. But RVP's goal gave this old sceptic a warm glow

My one moan about Eboue is the play acting! if he cut that out he could be a class player

Eboue and Helb were probs the best players on the field today and gibbs was good in the first half Eboue still went down easy but all booking was players fouling him today we got to see the team play as a team and great for coming from behind

Great result gooners

the stadium is ashburton grove, but the cup was sponsored by emirates therefore in my view the emirates cup (like the carling cup) Personally i don't have anything against sponsorship of competitions, it's the naming stadia that i can't stomach, what about you guys?

WHY WOULD THIS WEEKENDS PERFORMANCES PROVE THAT WE WERE WRONG ABOUT EBOUE? HE PLAYED BOTH GAMES AT RIGHT MIDFIELD - AND CREDIT TO HIM, DONE VERY WELL. 8)

YET THE CRITICISM OF HIM HAS BEEN THAT HIS DEFENSIVE SKILLS ARE NOT UP TO SCRATCH, AND THAT HE DIVES/FEIGNS INJURY TOO MUCH. NOTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST TWO DAYS HAS CHANGED MY JUDGEMENT REGARDING THOSE TWO ASPECTS OF EBOUE'S GAME!!

IT'S A SIMILAR SITUATION WITH HLEB. THE TWO MAIN CRITICISMS OF HIM ARE THAT HE FAILS TO GIVE US ENOUGH WIDTH, AND DOESN'T SHOOT ENOUGH.

WELL, HE WAS USED AS AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - SOMETHING WHICH SUITS HIM BETTER - AND NOT AS A WIDE MAN THIS WEEKEND. THE RESULT WAS MUCH IMPROVED PERFORMANCES. 8) :D

AND ALTHOUGH IT WAS GREAT TO SEE HIM FINALLY SHOOT  AND SCORE :D , HE HAS TO DO THAT MORE OFTEN IF ARSENAL ARE TO MOUNT A SERIOUS CHALLENGE FOR SILVERWARE.

SO YOU SEE, DESPITE THE FINE PERFORMANCES THIS WEEKEND BY BOTH EBOUE AND HLEB, THE FACT IS THAT IT DOESN'T REALLY INVALIDATE OUR CRITICISMS AT ALL!!

IHH is right. Let's not get carried away. A couple of good performances in a nice little pre-season competition does not mean they'll be able to do the business on a cold and wet winters evening in Bolton. Catch my drift?

The main thing that irked me with Spurs fans down the years is how they'd get carried away so quickly (it also reminds me of every major tournament England enter). I'd hate to see us go down the same road. Let's just be patient and see what is to come.

Still, well played messers Hleb and Eboue. Keep up the good work.
