Robin Van Persie
Know what? I just don't know. Undoubtedly a scorer of great goals in the past and a very sweet left foot and very talented but.......I can't put my finger on it apart from repeating myself....I just don't know!!
I know he's not a lone striker but even when he's part of a front 2.....I really really don't know!!
Does anyone else share the doubts I have as to whether he should be viewed as one of our top 2 strikers next season?
Me?.....I JUST DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently he still hasn't signed his new contract. With Adeybayour seemingly on his way, it looks unlikely he would go - but you never know.
I don't think he's remotely as good as he reckons himself to be. And as you suggest it's very hard to see where he fits in. He should be ideal for playing off a target man in a 4-4-2..........but then again... ?

He's /yet another/ member of the squad who is undoubtedly talented, yet equally capable of great moments and pure shit. His form certainly hasn't improved this year. Regrettably, another one for the "too inconsistent" pile, and he's someone who I never thought would even have a chance of being on that pile.
However, he did work hard today - he looked like he really wanted it, he was geeing up the fans from the start, and spent a little while applauding us after the match.

No way will we sell or 2 main strikers in one summer. It would be a backwards step.donaldo wrote:I have always said RVP is a luxury player,A bit like Bebatov who you can carry if you are Man Utd but we are not Man Utd.Only 9 league goals that is not good enough. Not a team player.I would sell if we got an offer of 15m

In the end he hasn't had a great season on the whole. He has had a very strong period from December to February and won us a lot of points on his own in that period however, and without those points we'd probably not be in the top 4 at this stage.
He still leads the league in assists. He still can score important goals and he still can carry us on his back and win us games. But he will have to become more consistent.
Will he though? I am sure he will.
No way should we sell him.

He only scored a goal from Jan - Feb (against Everton). I am not so sure he had a strong period though. Yes he scored goals against Liverpool and Chelsea. But then....what did he score a goal last time except from the penalty?! I can't really remember, God knows!! And no goal from his free-kick yet. I wish he could make at least one in the last game against Stoke City. Anyway, having said these, I would keep him if Ade is going to leave this summer. But I would not prefer to start him regularly next season, as we must buy some MORE better players. That'shadareud wrote:In the end he hasn't had a great season on the whole. The team needs to be built around him. Last year, begining of the season he was the main guy, and he responded by getting 5 in 5 I think. He doesn't work in 4-5-1 or played out on the wing. Unfortunatley Adebayor sort of kills robin's position when he plays. Next year him and arshavin could be frightening.
And he would deffinatley get in the Liverpool team

rubbih. hes a luxury player whose 1 foot and trying to get everything on to it is annoying as fuk. arshavin should play in his position next season and the team built around him. whens the last time he scored from a free kick. rvp has his moments but hes to injury prone and inconsistant and this leagues to phystcal for him. get 15 mill from some mug and we are laughinrigsby wrote:The team needs to be built around him.
