Gallas has ideas above his Playstation (31/7)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Gallas has ideas above his Playstation (31/7)

Usual thread starter – there is no question that Gallas’ defending for the Inter goal was er… indefensible. The writer of this piece is correct in that you should put your own house in order before criticising others. Having said that, I am not totally averse to players who are prepared to bollock their team-mates when it is justified. Tony Adams was one such, let’s face it. Too much nicey nicey and a team loses its edge. But if Willie allows soft goals like that come the real thing, the fans will soon be on his back. Let’s just hope it’s pre-season rustiness, eh?

When we signed Gallas i was delighted i thought we were buying a truly world class defender. but since he has joined us he has been poor.he plays as if his heart isn"t in it and i think his form has affected Toure, who had his worst season at centre half last season.

And am i the only one who thinks there is a problem behind Gallas and Lehmann. They never talk on the pitch and Gallas is always playing dodgy backpassses to Mad Jens.

At least he is the most successful captain since PV4 by lifting the mighty Emirates cup(only joking!!!)

couldn't agree more with every word of this article. Sunday filled me with great hope for the future, and for the present. Eboue, who i must admit, i doubted could play in midfield, was inspired. Helb was fantastic and RVP was simply beautiful!

2 things however took the edge off my joy...both surrounding william gallas. the first thing was the decision to make him captain above kolo. Now, im not doubting gallas's ability to open his gob...but for me, a captain should display loyalty, passion and desire for the club...three atributes willy has yet to prove. Kolo is not as vocal as willy, but at least we know that every time he wears the shirt he does so with pride...and thats enough for me.

The second thing, and what the article focused on, was gallas's inability to defend a simple high ball. Its worrying. We outplayed inter all game. one cross, one header and they were in front. how many times will that happen this season and us not be blessed with a moment of genius to get us out of a mess?? Its fair to say that modern football is predominantly played on the deck, but some teams ala chelsea so still like to lump the ball forward and we need an answer to that. Without Diaby, Senderos or Djorou in in the team we have no real height. Tallest player prob RVP or Gilberto...then who?? We need to win these arial battles or else our beautiful football will be undone by retarded lumps forward.

Gallas, enough of the talking. time for action. You came here with the tag of being one of the best defenders in the world. Time to prove it. Because at the moment, I'd have Johan over you anyday.

I been singing this song for a while now ... we need another central defender, as cover and to provide greater competition ... a defender with some aerial authority ....
