Martins more likely?
Martins more likely?
Does anyone else think the signing of Martins looks more likely with Newcastle looking like they will sign Alan Smith?
Or am I just delusional?

Didn't Henry say he would finish his career with us?
Didn't Ljungberg say he would never play for another English side?
They were both on skysports.
Not saying its definite, but I'm just saying its a possibility.
Apparantly we are in for an exciting week in the transfer market, as was brought to light by rebel gooner on another thread.

Chopper I am totally with you my son. Anyway, hard as it is to believe, I'd rather we sign Owen than martins - I have this thing that I always question the reported ages of those nigerian players and sure as jaysus we would get stuck with a player that is 10 years older than his passport says and is only fit for a retirement home.
I have issues I know

Hope you look forward to my copy and paste tomorrow then!Eboue Can't Defend wrote:No!! You would have to mention it every day, for the rest of your life to even get close!!Chopper wrote:Is a possibility but i'd still rather get Drenthe or Quaresma (am i repeating this enough to outweigh 1886's Matt Taylor offering?)![]()

Owen would not be a bad buy (if fit) but Belfast is teasing me on another thread with Quaresma AND Huntelaar nowthat would be a double signing!

Altho there's little doubt that Owen could do the biz for us, his buy-out is near 10M, his annual wages the guts of 5M, and in an injury ravaged career, he is more injury prone than ever - could not see AW taking a risk on him seein as he takes a players physiology so seriously that not only does he research the number of injuries he has had but also how long it took him to recover, proving whether or not he is a quick healer!
