And Gibbs makes 5!

Our 5th "new signing...." :barscarf:

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that England Under-21 international Kieran Gibbs has signed a new long-term contract extension with the Club.
Lambeth-born Kieran shot to prominence during the FA Youth Cup run to the Semi-Final in 2007. His performances earned him an appearance in the 2007/08 pre-season fixture against Barnet and, later, a start against Italian giants Inter Milan in the inaugural Emirates Cup in July 2007.
Gibbs made his full First Team debut the following season during the 2007/08 campaign, in the Carling Cup Fourth Round victory at Sheffield United in October 2007.
Kieran, who can operate as a left-back or in midfield, was a revelation last season, making 21 First Team appearances, including eight in the Premier League and four in the UEFA Champions League.
His performances during last season earned Kieran, still only 19, with a place in the England Under-21s squad, which then led to him becoming a regular in this summer’s UEFA Under-21 Championships in Sweden, helping Stuart Pearce’s England team reach the Final of the competition.
Manager Arsène Wenger said: “Kieran made such a great impact last season and the progress he made throughout the year was fantastic. Kieran is an intelligent player with huge quality and he proved last season with his performances that he has great potential. We’re delighted that Kieran has committed his future to Arsenal and we’re all excited to watch his future development at the Club.â€

personally i am delighted with this news. There is no doubt that Gibbs is our future left back and with the likes of Theo, Wilshere and Ramsey who i believe will play in the middle next season with Cesc, the future is promising.

I know we all want trophies now but we have to be realistic with who we are competing against, stability is far more important because otherwise we will be a clun like the pikeys down the road.

Up the arsenal!

Great, we're signing our own youngsters  all very good for the future but not next season so unless we address the needs of the current first team with some strong, experienced players then it's a case of "only here for the beer and craick" again next season. Oh well, had a few like that before  so it's getting more and more like the good old days, now just bring back some terraces so we can all moan on them and I'll be well appy

I do yes. Only because i believe him to be better than Song, Diaby and Denilson.

Can't see AW buying a midfielder now that Melo has signed a new deal at Fiorentina.

I like Ramsey but i really can't see Wenger playing him ahead of Denilson or Song untill at least the season after this one coming up.

I think he'll play more but not as Cesc regular partner.

Jaymitch I would love to see ramsey ahead of song, diaby and denilson in the pecking order but you are seriously deluding yourself if you think that (a) wenger will rate him higher than those 3 next season
(b) ramsey is good enough at this stage to be 1st choice

As well as that if wenger doesnt sign a dm this summer then his p45 should be handed to him on sept 1st

Whats wrong with signing a new improved contract every month, isn't that how it works now.

Apprentice plays a few games... New 4 year contract 20k a week....10 appearances later new contract 30k a week.....first goal new contract 40k a week...full season of holding your own in the first team, new contract 50k a week..get in the England 22 new contract 60k a week....have one whole good season playing for the club 7 year contract 100k a week £2m loyalty bonus...no need to train any more just turn up do what the f*ck you like, your set for life.
