DB10 finally succumbs to the 500 club...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

DB10 finally succumbs to the 500 club...

Post by DB10GOONER »

500? Good Lord Jaysus I have got to get out more f*cking often!!!

Only kidding. I love this forum, great craic and some pretty good informed opinion too. Sometimes...

Anyway, I was gonna do something overblown and mental for my 500th but I was thinking about a friend of mine that sadly passed away in March this year following a terrible tragic accident and decided to pay tribute to her instead.

Trish McGarry was only 33 and a bit of a Gooner legend amongst our Irish Gooner crew and further afield too. She was obsessed with the Gunners and followed them through thick and thin. I first met her at the Barca match at Wembley in 99 and we watched a good few games over the years.

She was part of our extended Gooner unit that drank Paris dry last May 06, and she probably single handedly dragged all our sorry asses out of the doom and gloom just after the match. She reminded us we were f*cking Arsenal, pride of London, the greatest team the world has ever seen. And we had a monsterous piss up, joining a group of English Gooners in The Cockney Tavern in Pigalle, singing and chanting and drinking until the wee hours.

Bernard Azulay kindly included a tribute from us (written by our mate Pete) in his column in the Gooner and we appreciated that so much. I wasn't best mates with Trish and indeed didn't know her as well as Pete or a couple of the other lads we go to games with but she had this knack of making you feel like you'd been mates all your life.

So, I'm gonna dedicate this post to our dear mate Trish. We will always miss her and we will always remember her.

To the Forum Regulars, I'm sincerely sorry if this post is a bit depressing and a tad long but I won't be offended if anyone doesn't read it. I've included the following pic of some of our Irish Gooner crowd that made the trip to Paris. There are two English lads and one Welsh lad there too that live in Ireland. This is from the afternoon before the game when our hopes were so damn high.

That's Trish on the right. I'm the one with the tongue hanging out.

Anyway, that's the 500 done. A big thank you to every single one of you on this forum. It helped keep me sane while the club I love did it's best to drive me nuts!

I am now prepping myself for those avocado smeared pygmies...

Great tribute, Congrats on joining the 500 club, although after that it doesn't seem important after that, does it? cheers and as our friend rebel would say one team, one life, one Arsenal!

think we can overlook that - and that goes for any one off pics. avatars were creating a problem before, but you can't always predict how big an image will be, and let's face it, half of us have trouble getting them even on the forum without some technical hitch beyond our ken.

anyway - welcome to the 500 club, db10, you are the fourth of many i am sure. 8)

Well done DB10 8)

A mighty and sincere tribute as well :(

Anyway, far from being Old Trafford by the Atlantic, I am beginning to see our homeland has it's fair share of great Gooners  of which I am very proud to be one :D

I am plotting a trip to the Grove soon so I hope to meet up with some of my fellow green goooooooners and indeed anyone on the forum. Well done mate :P

No need at all to apologise DB10Gooner. Superb tribute. Sorry to hear of the loss. :(

Like the other guys, I would like to congratulate you on reaching the 500 mark 8), and I'm sure if this exclusive setting wasn't all that before, it will be now you've joined the club!!

P.S.

When looking at the picture, and before seeing your revelation, I tried to guess which one was you and plumped for the bearded guy!!

Well, you said you worked for the civil service, so it was an easy mistake to make!

My, you're still a young fellow and judging from your posts, obviously mature beyond your years. Are you sure you're not lying to us DB10?? Was I right in the first place about you being the bearded one?
