It was nice to finally see someone mention Jared Young on an Arsenal blog. I met Jared at University in 1996 and we quickly became friends when we discovered that we were both gooners. I actually went to Highbury with him a few times that year.
Jared was a really good bloke with a great sense of humour. He was always joking and making people laugh.
It is always difficult to stay in touch with people after University but Jared and I had managed to exchange occasional emails and texts over the last 11 years.
I usually text him in August to discuss Arsenal's chances and we always planned to meet up soon.
When I received a text from his sister last week, I too wondered why she was texting me. The news took some time to sink in and when it finally did I felt very sad indeed.
Jared seemed like a natural at what he was doing and he always seemed destined for bigger things. Hearing his voice recently on Arsenal TV made me feel proud and I texted him immediately.
I have been searching newsnow over the last week to see if anyone would write a tribute to Jared. The title of your blog could not have said it better "a friend, a bloody good journalist and an Arsenal fan"

More on Jared
i can't really believe it myself. i feel like i should be able to call Jared and talk to him about it. if u break a leg you can get over it, but if something significant in your body malfunctions you have quite simply had it. there is no way back, that is it.
i've been trying to add some further elements to the blog but the system doesn't seem to be letting me. when i can, i will.
