Man City.... Are you worried?

Post by Swale_Gooner1985 »

There has been a lot of talk on here recently about Man City and how they will be the main threat to our top four spot in the coming season...just want to see who is actually worried about them overtaking us?

Personally i'm not worried in the slightest, yes they have bought a few 'superstars' and splashed a lot of money around but...

I'm not too sure they know what they are doing?

They have got so many striking options that it will be impossible to keep them all happy, especially when you have characters as large as Adebayor, Robinho, Bellamy and Tevez amongst them, how will they react to a few games out of the side?

Everyone is raving about Barry, i am not so sure he is as good as everyone makes out, i put him in the over rated category with Downing.

There manager doesn't have the capabilities to handle a team with all these players, i really dont think he will get them playing or find a formation to suit them, the way he has flooded the squad with forwards and no defenders is a sign he doesnt know what he is doing!

anyway, im not worried about them, and i dont think they will reach the top four, a few early season bad results and watch it all explode between players, owners and management! Especially When we Razz them early on!!

Come on you Gunners!! :barscarf:

Quick question Swale.

Forget the team name.

We're playing, in a one off game a side the has, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Barry, De Jong, Given, Bridge, Petrov

To a lesser level, Ireland and Richards.

That team deserves respect don't it? That team cannot be under estimated.

Fielding a team including Van Persie, Arshavin, Eduardo, Nasri, Fabregas, Clichy, Sagna, Almunia

im confident!

Do they deserve respect? a bunch of players who have basically jumped ship to Man City for a massive pay rise? im not so sure they do?

Plus our players have experience playing together where as theirs doesnt, and we have a far superior man in charge...im still not worried!

Those names all have the making of an end to end game. 8)

But as much as our names should make Arsenal a team you don't want to play, equally City's will do as well. I feel this year we have to summise City will do the usual of failing against the little teams.

As long as we don't do the same, I'll sign on to finish above them. But that has to be where each of our weaknesses lie based on last year. Trouble is City have tried to strengthen. As yet we haven't so much. :(

Thats the point though isnt it, City have spent all that cash and bought in all those players and when you look at it i still feel they are behind us in most aspects of football

It could go either way with them, i will admit that, but i dont think they will steam roller teams like people are suggesting, i reckon they might finish 6th and thats their lot!

My trouble is, and not trying to bang it in here. Song, Denilson holding the DM against Robinho, Tevez, Santa Cruz is gonna be tough. Barry has proved he can hold back Cesc, RvP, etc. De Jong, I've always liked to help. Back to my first question, in a one off game? I don't think it's going to be as easy as we want. And City probably haven't finished where as we probaly have.

It makes me feel sexy in a bad way.

Do you really rate Ireland as a “lesserâ€

I will be worried if we start the season, with this current squad. Our lack of transfer activity needed for vital areas and i was hoping that senderos, silvestre would be long gone by now, and a couple more in. If we buy the players that we all know we need, and get rid of the dead wood, i think we can give ourselves a chance and not worry about city

I wouldn't. AA is wasted out there. Clichy and Rosicky would kill it. AA has to move central to have his biggest impact. 8)

You wouldnt rather have Clichy and Arshavin aheasd of Bridge and Petrov? thats silly talk!

I do tend to agree that Rosicky should be used on left side if possible and arshavin off the forward but given the choice of clichy and arshavin or bridge and petrov...there is only one winner!
