Usual thread starter. So do you think the mettle shown on Saturday has anything to do with Gallas captaincy? Or was it a co-incidence? Whichever, great performance. Real good Champions League style run out, which will hopefully serve us well in Prague. Suspect we may see the 4-5-1 formation once again in Europe, a way of accommodating both Hleb and Rosicky whilst still having Eboue on the right flank.

I do believe in Gallas as captain but I don't believe he neccessarily had anything to do with the 'mettle' shown on Saturday.
I alluded to as much regarding Gallas in a post yesterday - Gallas is no shrinking violet and if he's going to take on Jens, then he his likely to take on anyone. If he is playing in a settled side with a regular complimentary partner, then we are likely to see the real Gallas.
And I realise that RvP and Eboue are our resident hotheads, but it was great to see the players start defending each other again and giving the ref some shit. Perhaps we are starting to see some of the players step forwards from out of the shadows.
All we need now is someone on the pitch who is going to sort out the opposition!

I dont know what happened to Ajax. I used to like watching them play and moving the ball about but in that game it all seemed to go down the shitter !! I know there's history between them and RVP and I did honestly fear that he would get sent off at some stage. As it turned out he was "carried off" after time and time again they set out to get him . He got the last laugh of course and is guaranteed a nice welcome next time he's in Amsterdam !!!
Good to see Flamini up the front giving it some . He will always be a SQAUD player but he always gives his all. Come on boys lets make it a great Sunday

I agree with Chunky.
I have always been a big fan of the Dutch way of playing the beautiful game but recent Arsenal matches against that opposition have proved very disappointing because of the Dutch sides tactics.
Can anyone remember the last time a Dutch side played attacking football against us? I would probably have to go as far back as the 1972 Ajax team that contained Johan Cruyff and half the Dutch international squad
, which beat us in the European Cup!!
Maybe it's because modern Dutch teams try that little harder not to lose, as opposed to the old way of always trying to win?
Especially against the English teams!!

Spot on Stats,
Good team huddle ! Although it was a stupid goal to concede we did keep going and show that we can come back. If it was against a better team then Im not sure but its still way too early in the season so lets hope it will come and we can keep picking up points and try not to fall away from the Mancs and the Chavs.
