It's only good business if we actually spend the money on quality replacements.
Wenger is already saying the same things that he said last summer and that he hasn't got anyone lined up at the moment.Hopefully he is bluffing, so that teams we want to buy from don't put their prices up if they think we're desperate. Unfortunately I thought the same thing last year but the players we needed didn't materialise.
Surely he is going to buy A DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD PLAYER FFS!!!
We also still need at least one more central defender. I watched the last last 30 mins of the game against Hanover last night. I don't know whether Vermaelen had a good first half, and I know it's early days, but he looked out of his depthin the second half. Worrying.
Taylor from Newcastle would be a good buy.
I also can't understand why we haven't bought Huntelaar. Players of his quality don't come up very often particularly at his price.
I don't know if Arsene realises this but when and if we sign new players, particularly forwards,it gets everyone excited about the new season. At the moment ( although I'm ecstatic that Ade has gone......and possibly Eboue) I'm feeling let down again.
Last year I thought Wenger had lost the plot....this year will be even worse if he doesn't buy because this time he's actually got money to spend.
Good business by the manager in ANC season

The article makes an excellent point about the disruptive effects of the African Cup of Nations (and Kolo was never the same when he returned) but I have to also agree that we need support for Fabregas in midfield.
There was no physical challenge in yesterday's enjoyable friendly against Athletico Madrid but the approach will be different if we are paired with them in the Champions League qualifier. The gloves most certainly will be off at Goodison in a fortnight's time.
Whisper it quietly - could Paddy be a good short term answer?

I really hope it happens but don't expect it to. I've been watching the Gooners since 1979 and if Patrick returned it would be the biggest and bestest transfer I've seen.
Charlie Nicholas was good in 1983 ( I even got the "Billy the Fish" haircut, sad bastard that I am! ) and Sol Campbell was a coup in 2001 but Paddy's return would top the lot.
I was gutted when he left - I'd be pulling wheelies if he returned. Can you imagine the atmosphere at his first match??
VI - EI - RA. Whoa - oh - oh.

Vermaelen looks a quality buy after all, but it's deja vu and groundhog day all over again this season without buying the players we all know we need to improve the squad. Wenger's the greatest manager we have ever had but he has definitely lost the plot in the last couple of seasons. We are not going to win trophies with players such as Almunia, Diaby and Eboue in the side unless we have an amazing run of luck. And we never do get any luck........ Just look at the game against Utd. Although it was a very poor Utd team and on the balance of play Arsenal should have got at least a draw the outcome of the match was a typical Arsenal result of late. Once Van Persie's shot was saved ( luckily ) from 6 yards, the result seemed to be predictable. When we get a rare decision that actually goes our way ( Eduardo against Celtic ) we get punished for it afterwards anyway!!!!!
It's very frustrating because with a few sensible buys we could have competed with confidence in all competitions. As it is we are again going to be also rans.
