alexander hlebs personel target

Post by stearmaster »

Alexander HLEB is impressed by Liverpool's summer signings - but is out to prove Arsene Wenger was right to have faith in his young squad.

"I like Liverpool's transfer policy best of all," said the Arsenal star. "Torres, Lukas Leiva, Babel, Voronin, Benayoun - buying them one after the other is impressive.

"We've only had a few acquisitions. But the squad is very good.

Advertisement"At the moment I still don't know how we will live without (Thierry) Henry. He is a great player and a part of Arsenal.

"But he wanted to leave. No one is irreplaceable and him leaving is not a tragedy."

And Hleb has set himself a personal target. "It's my dream to score 10 or more goals this season."

Nah...looks cool, I love it!

10 goals is just slightly less than he scored in 5 years in Germany (apparently) but nothing wrong with being optimistic :D

Maybe after assessing the situation he thinks defenders in Germany are better!

And personal target: For someone on the onlinegooner forum to have the name "I love Hleb" by the end of the season.

even if the hlebster does not score 10 , just by attempting more shots we as a team will get more goals , through rebounds , deflections and other madness in the box .

I thought that his target was five SHOTS next season. we need Cesc,Helb and Rosicky to score 25goals between them, last seasons return was poor.

I don't think 10 goals is an unachievable goal for Hleb. I'm new to this forum and I'm surprised to see so many people slagging on the guy. I think he's a decent midfielder who wasn't utilised well. In the pre-season, Wenger used him in midfield versus Inter Milan and he looked threatening. Heck, he even scored a goal!

If Wenger can somehow keep him in the centre with Rosicky he can get the 10 goals he 'dreams' of.

'The Unachievable Goal' by Alex Hleb. A full and (fat)frank expose of one footballer's shattered dreams.

I hope not - And gunnerhead, I'm one of Hleb's fans!! Just imgaine what's been going on here up until now!

not so easy to do that . we need one central midfielder to protect the defence and break up play ( gilberto ... diaby etc ) . fabregas is a definate starter also . so thats two central midfield spots gone .

if we play with just one striker we can have another midfielder playing down the centre ( like hleb did when he scored ) , howvere the chances of him and rosicky both playing in the centre are very limited .

also if we play five in midfield then the attacking midfielder who is playing in the hole better get more then ten goals , since surely the second striker who we will have to sacrifice would have scored more then 10 anyway .

Agreed Gunnerhead

Helb and Rosicky are both better playing inside but Arsene plays them both wide.To me Rosicky was wasted last season he is not a winger and never will be.The problem is both Helb and Rosicky come off the wing and the midfield is more congested than Picadilly Circus and everyone gets in each others way. With Arsene now playing Eboue wide right midfield one of Helb or Rosicky will not make the starting line up unless Arsene goes one upfront which would be wrong in my opinion

Away from home Rosciky and Hleb worked well as part of a five man midfield last season, especially at the spuds with Gilberto/Diaby/Cesc taking care of the midfield to leave Rosicky and Hleb to support Adebayor (More like a three man midfield, and two attacking midfielders behind Adebayor).

We just need the midfielders to contribute more goals, which I think they are capable of, in which ever system we play.

Even if Rosicky theoretically is a winger he's free to move around pretty much as he pleases...just like Bobby was. He even said so himself in an interview a while ago.
I'm sure if Hleb started to cut inside more often and to make more offensive runs I'm sure Wenger would encourage him....he just doesn't seem fit enough for it. Hleb's biggest problem so far, yes even bigger than his lack of shooting, is that he hardly make any runs without the ball and if Wenger hadn't paid 10 million quid for him there's no way he'd be a regular in our starting 11 as making runs without the ball and creating space is what our game is all about.

hleb is a very important member of the team. he is very underrated by most fans. yes we would love him to shoot more often. but the postions he gets himself into benefits the team so much just that killer ball. fantastic quick feet. the postion he played in pre season worked well. one of the first names in the team every week. its what he gives to the team is why he is.
