Why Gallas?

Just like Another bad dream,i was really hoping will not come to pass.Since Henry's departure was one that did come to pass.i was hoping am not gonna see another.

Making Gallas the captain,just doent go down well with me.The Guys has spent just one season without achieving anything,couple with remarks he made some weeks back about the club i think he should be up for sale not the Band!

Its just not fair,Gilberto should be the one with the band.He did well last season.

I just hope this wont cause problems or distraction on the rest of the team.

this is a fucking shambles!!!!!!!!

How could he do this to Gilberto who has been nothing but loyal and give it to someone who has played probablhy less than 30 games for the club!!!!!!!!!! He's spent the summer being critical and negative! Centre back is the best position for a Captain says Wenger then why the hell didn't he give it to King kolo!!!

An ex Chelsea Player who bad mouths the club and players and has played under 30 games, didn't pull his weight last season and spent the other half injured!!!

I was one of those who blamed the board but now i know Wenger has lost it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IM SO ANGRY!!

What an error! Wenger deserves to be scolded!I think there's a rationale behind selecting him as the skipper where there're likes of Kolo & Gilberto who hv been with the team 4 long & has possessed the qualities!

He's spent the last year either slagging us off or being injured and I thought he'd be off to Spain/Italy/wherever this summer, the last thing I thought I'd see was him being made club captain. Let's just hope he gets his head down and plays for the club instead of whining now he's been given this position of responsibility. It does seem rather a kick in the teeth for Toure and Gilberto.

Arsene knows!

It could be for any number of reasons
1) Gallas is vocal leader whereas the others be a little quiet
2) He applauds the fans after the game
3) He seems to care
4) He is a cb
5) He knows how to roll ups his sleeves
6) he is a winner

Reasons not to pick the others:

1. Gilberto may not be at the club after this season (if he is here this one). So a new captain for the new season, and the new 'team'.

2. Kolo will be going to ANC this season, and his leaving could cause an interruption to the team.

3. Gallas is more vocal than either of them, and a vocal captain is what's needed.

spot on, RaM ....

Besides, in his trial period as captain during the pre-seasons, the band seemed to bring out an extra level of committment and hunger in the man ...

I was also against gallas, but after watching the pre-seasons, and heard some more positive comments from him, I became a convert as to why captaincy would work with him ....

Besides, we have lacked ambition/desire/hunger in our team in the last season (possibly the one before that) .. so, its probably a good idea to inject some fire into our bellies, and gallas (or maybe mad jens) is better able to give us this as captain than the more quiet/introverted kolo and gilberto ...
