I know where you're coming from CF, but in comparison to Eduardo's it was a stick on...

Sorry....

His right foot might have touched Almunia's hands. The thing is he didnt even need to dive, it was such a clumsy attempt from Almunia, he would have fouled Shrek anyways.

I'm furious.

I agree with you on this one. Call me deluded or a rose-tinter, but Rooney was already on his way down, I'm glad someone else can see that. I told myself straight away, that it was a clever dive. As someone else has said, just not as clear as Eddie's. And then did you notice how quickly the commentators dressed it up?! "That IS a penalty." "Almunia says no but he knows what he did, it IS a penalty." "Rooney knows he has to get there and he does just that, PENALTY." "Rooney this" "Rooney that" "Rooney does well." "Rooney deserved it." "Well done Rooney"

God I'm so angry. :banghead:

Penalty every day of the week in Manchester. We know what we're gonna get, we take it as always and move on.

Agree with you. Every striker in the prem, let alone our team would have had a bit of that.

Eduardo was expecting that kind of contact before Celtic's keeper pulled out of his attempt to get to the ball.

Dive.

If almunia pulled his hands away, Rooney would have dived just like Eduardo.

Almunia's contact was inconsequential.

he was on his way down but he had every right to be (we all know we'd be claiming a pen...see wednesday for details ;) )
i've tried my hardest to say it was a dive just to soften the defeat a bit but it wasnt,
almunia had no right being there and gifted UTD the win on a nice big silver platter (thats including the ball he should of punched away from diaby)

all that hard work wasted by a clumsy, lazy and over-rated goal keeper...theres a reason he's never been capped.
can't blame diaby, maybe should have done better but look who was waiting for it if he didn't intervene
also well done eboue, reverted back to his embarassing diving self.

and LOL @ wenger

IMO rooneys, eboues and eduardos dives are all exactly equal. Its breaking the rules whatever way you look at it. A dive is a dive and no more or no less.

I can kinda see where the guy is going with this. I thought shrek was on his way down before there was any contact. When I watched the replay I was convinced of it. He definitely started going early.

BUT..had he not done so Almunia would have took him down anyway so the outcome would have been no different.
I was more pissed off that Deancunt denied Arshavins penalty shout and said no foul, but then 5 minutes later gave a free kick to them for an almost identical challenge.

Wengers sending off was laughable. Was there any point at that time of the game.

Rooney dive.

Almunia's arms were BOTH touching grass.

Rooney could have stepped over them. No problem. He fell over before any contact (if any) was made.

Two match ban, please, FIFA.

And on THIS occassion, the dive actually DID affect the result. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
