More Wenger speak - tick your bullshit bingo cards

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

More Wenger speak - tick your bullshit bingo cards

Post by SteveO 35 »

Surely the comments in bold are a cut and paste from every miserable defeat. Shout 'HOUSE' if you've ticked them all off on your card

'We were defensively a bit shaky today'

On dropping more points in Manchester…
"We have the same feeling at little bit as the first game in Manchester [two weeks ago]. There was more in the game for us than what we got and we go unfortunately home with the same spirit, the same disappointment and of course with the feeling that we should have got a much better result today considering the way the two teams played. But they negotiated better the two turning points of the game, and I believe we were defensively a bit shaky today."

On accusations of defensive naivety…
“It's difficult to say because I believe many players came back from international games, and when you play away it's very difficult to say. We're not completely sharp and fresh like we can be and I felt it had an impact on our defensive concentration."

On the balance of play…
"We looked always in control, especially in the second half, and when it became 2-1 we threw everything forward and got caught on the break. But at the end of the day, when you concede four goals and you look at the time of possession we had and the number of shots on goal they had and what we had, it's very difficult to take. But when you make mistakes at that level you pay for it."

On Adebayor's alleged stamp on Van Persie…
"I haven’t spoken to him yet [Van Persie] and I heard about it on the radio, but I haven’t seen the incident because the ball was moving away. I will have to see it again to assess that."

On Adebayor's celebration in front of the Arsenal fans…
"As you know that is not welcome, but his attitude and his behaviour is out of my control and I cannot influence that."

On Tomas Rosicky's scoring return…
"It's good to have him [Rosicky] back, but he's not completely fit yet to play in top-level competition. I think we need to be patient."

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yawn yawn fucking yawn. By the way Arsene there's another international break in early October. So start fucking planning for it.....

I think his next interview will have massive potential with fantastic technical ability.

Overall yes. But maybe the second half of the interview will drop a little bit physically

Wenger's interviews are a joke.

I've tried to stop reading/listening to them because, as many have said before, he seems to be talking to his players via the media instead of speaking the truth and giving an honest assessment.

Yep ! It's like a tape loop played over and over again.

Take this bit :-

On accusations of defensive naivety…
“It's difficult to say because I believe many players came back from international games, and when you play away it's very difficult to say. We're not completely sharp and fresh like we can be and I felt it had an impact on our defensive concentration."

Now I don't like Rooney - indeed I like Man U even less. But by all accounts Rooney single handled, ran the Spurs defence ragged yesterday when Utd were playing most of the second half with 10 men and he was on his own up front.

But he scored the decisive 3rd goal that clinched it.

This is the same Rooney who played in mid week. Where was his 'tiredness' his 'lack of concerntration' ???

Maybe he declined to show any, because when the chips were down he just rolled his sleeves up and redoubled his effort instead of letting his head drop and looking for the nearest excuse/exit ?

Maybe he's just that type of player ? We used to be proud to have them here at Arsenal. We certainly don't have any now !

Indeed and it really affected the Chelsea players too didn't it. 1-0 down in what's becoming one of the hardest PL grounds to get a result on, players returning from various outposts across Europe and beyond and scoring goals in stoppage time in each half. Looks like their 'tiredness' and 'lack of concentration' wasn't much of a problem either

Arsene's interviews remind me of artists describing their art...

...only insiders get it and it's generally bollocks in the first place!!

"i did not realise he was for sale"

Not forgetting that we have many "internal options" anyway....
