HOW DOES YOUR MATCHDAY GO ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

HOW DOES YOUR MATCHDAY GO ?

Post by Chunky The Gooner »

We all have different superstitions/routines for matchdays. Whats yours? Do you meet in the same cafe/pub/bus stop. Do you wear a certain shirt and keep it on for the next match if we win or change if it we lose ?

This is my 400 post and the following bit is going to be a bit boring so you can stop reading now but thank you very much to the following people who over the past few months have kept me , informed , laughing and normal ! If I have left your name out and you do post on here then thank you also it wasn''t personal !

WELL DONE THE CHUNKSTER ON REACHING 400, AND THANK YOU FOR THE MENTION ABOVE!! 8) I AM HAPPY IF I HAVE PLAYED EVEN A SMALL PART IN YOUR ENJOYMENT OF THE FORUM.

AGREE 100% THAT NO MATTER WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY OR DO, THEY CAN NEVER TAKE AWAY THE FACT THAT WE ARE GOONERS AND THEY AIN'T!! 8)

I REMEMBER DB10GOONER SAYING SOMETHING ON ANOTHER THREAD THAT SUMS IT ALL UP (COPYRIGHT MARTIN TYLER, MAY 1998!):

YOU CAN'T AND DON'T CHOOSE WHERE YOU ARE BORN. BUT YOU CAN CHOOSE WHO YOUR TEAM IS - AND WE ARE ALL LUCKY BASTARDS THAT WE, FOR WHATEVER REASON, CHOSE 'BY FAR THE GREATEST TEAM, THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN. AND IT'S ARSENAL. ARSENAL F.C.'!!

ARSENAL FOREVER, THROUGH THICK AND THIN!!

Loads of detail lol & thank you Chunk
Ok it's a saturday morning (if we play on a 3ko  )
But my phone on for either 8:45 or 8:30 to watch the prem league preview on SS1 before soccer AM
I watch soccer am till the end while getting dressed, washed etc etc
I leave the door at 12:30 useually to get the 29 outside the world of sport where i walk up to the supporters club to buy a matchday programme, depending as well i will buy a couple of fan mags esp the Gooner in which i nag the shop keeper for everytime i go to Highbury to ask when the next issue is out
I walk towards Arsenal & go to some stalls esp the programme one next to it where i get a away programme or any other one missing from collection which updates every week
Afterwards go to photo stall see whats new & buy a photo or two of the nice lady
The other stalls nothing updates much so i don't get a match badge or scarves unless the CL comes but whenever i want a scarve £7 in the end is well out of reach, if i start making money & brang £100 to the game i could easily spend it i think
I walk up the long way past the all arsenal shop & if something takes my eye in there then i might go in but as an earlybird i like a good read before the training begins & now i'm trying to get the players to wave at me, so far Jens, Alummia (aka Blondie), Adriano there's others
Clap away & cheer on the gunners at the front & read at the same time till ko where i also useually take photos to add to my portfilo (some to come soon from classic i've got)
KO time & COME ON THE GUNNERS roars from the north bank from me which is abit early before others but feck it, plenty of photos taken before ko & the people next to me come just before the ball is kicked
I sing & swear for half the time & try & get photos when the players go for corners or tackle each other etc
Half time it's a read & if i'm hungery a hot dog & a water without moving
8)
Another 45 mins later the game finishs & wait for 5 mins before i can even get outside & walk on into the shop if so & past the photo stall up to walk finsbury park to catch a bus home 8)
Another result is hopefulley ours & get in for dinner later on to tell me story & bore mum 8)

Congrats Chunky!

Thankyou for the mention too. :)

So...my matchday...

All Day: Whatever I happen to be doing that day.

8pm (or thereabouts): Watch some kind of TV/Read

9-Matchtime: Get bored and impatient- trawl through tv channels watching other matches, sports, films, documentaries etc.

Match: Watch with sound reasonably low so as not to wake household. Keep exclamations to a minimum. (or at least the really loud ones  )

Post Match: Go to bed and try to get at least 4 hours sleep before getting up the next morning. :D

That's why I love when our matches are Saturday night my time. :D

Yes. Don't you love when you get to Clapham Junction with all the other sad b-tards with their notepads and anaracks!

I'm not really that sad! 8)
