Alex Song

Post by Eboue-Why? »

I remember being at Craven Cottage when Song was disgracefully booed off when he was substituted.
I've got to admit that after the uncomfortable first 20 mins yesterday I actually felt relieved when Song came on for Diaby. Funny how times have changed!!
Now I'm not saying that he's the answer to our holding midfielder problem but yet again he was impressive when he came on. Still gives away too many silly free kicks and is one paced but if he marshalls the Chavs later this month as impressively as he has with lower ranked teams this season then I might start believing Wenger's worked his magic again.

I believe Alex Song is without doubt the greatest, most immenseful central midfielder I have ever seen, really quite immense.

Did I mention that he is immense? :D

Dear me. He is average. He still struggles against real quality. We have simplified his role and he has improved because of it. Let's not get carried away...

As long as he isn't 1 of 2 in a 442 then am fine for now.

Give me a break, he may not be that good. But his performance lately for the team deserves more than that!

I also thought Henry was average when he started to play for us. But I become a real admirer after two or three seasons. Can Song be like Henry?

Ask me about Song after the Chelsea game.He has looked good against the average teams but in the two games in Manchester he didnt play well.

Or maybe he's actually, you know, got better? And why do you feel the need to constantly pointscore against other Arsenal fans?

He's looking a good player now, he's still not world class by a long chalk and probably never will be but he's learning that role and becoming a better player for it.

The really impressive improvement this season has been the Wenger tactics. 4-3-3 is getting the best out of our midfielders, brilliant and not so brilliant.

He's improved a lot. I still think we need competition for his shirt... if he starts getting complacent, his form will dip.

Song has come on leaps and bounds, but he still is nowhere near the finished article. It seems people like jumping on bandwagons and as someone said previously his role has been simplified, and someone like Diaby could equally do a job of winning the ball and knocking it 5 yards. I would like to see how many forward passes Song has made, and especially in the attacking third?

I was at that Fulham game and I dont think its right to boo any player, and its a shame that its happening at AG regarding Bendtner and Diaby. The boos were more directed to the fact Fabregas was on the bench at Craven Cottage even though and hopefully only a minority were at Song!
