left back

Post by burns718 »

just a though!

what about playing the belgian international left back at left back, and playing senderos in the centre?

wait.........

senderos is desperate for playin time so will no doubt play out of his skin, we all know than when he plays well he plays very well.

in his time playing with galas he always looked better than when playin with toure.
now toures left - guess who seems to be playing much better, coincidence?

i like 99% of all arsenal fans think TV is awsome but i wonder how much of that is down to the fact that finaly willyg has a partner he likes, would we possibly be sitting here saying OMG senderos is awsome if TV had not ben bought??

watdya think homies

Erm....no!

I don't dislike Senderos as much as many on here but why risk weakening that CD partnership that is working so well? It doesn't make sense!

my thought was that you would be strenghthening the LB positon more than you would be weakening the CB position, youd still have TV leadership and mouth in the back line. may help senderos develop a little.

i would much rathe go to chavs who will be without dogbreath with a back four of

sagna gallas senderos TV than a back 4 of sagna gallas TV silvester/traore

Its a very interesting situation at left back now...there are a lot of options

We could move Vermaelen across and bring in Senderos or Silvestre to centre half

We could Play Traore

We could switch Eboue over to the left side, where he has done ok before

We could play Silvestre at left back

Personally i wouldnt want to disrupt the centre half pairing of Gallas and Vermaelen as they are doing so well

For me it would be either to just play Traore who is a capable replacement, or put Eboue in at left back...Im leaning towards Eboue slightly just because of his experience and his fitness will be better

I agree with Karel id play Sagna at left back he is good enough and intellegent enough to be able to switch sides and i wouldnt break up the TV-Gallas partnership. I think Eboue is a decent 2nd choice right back so would have him there

Likewise, Sagna at left back (Traore also apparently injured)

i fucking HATE to see right footed players playing leftback.

i know, i know, but i think silvestre would do a job. he could play very defensively (which he does well at, look at the game agains liverpoo) and that would give arshavin more room to only think about being offensive.

anything, even vermaelen as LB and cygan or stepanovs as CB, but please, pretty fucking please, let's NOT put a right footed player there.

dont u lot remember the eboue gate game v wigan last dec, when eboue played left side of midfield, the guy was completly USLESS. hes usless most days, but playing him left back, is kust gonna hamper the team no end. tv5 is an option, but unlikely. in the event that traore cant play, then i believe silvestre is our only option there, well at least he is left footed, and has played there in the past. ANYONE BUT EBOUE.

What's the point of breaking the CD partnership? Senderos is ok, but against Chelsea he crumbles constantly. Traore or Silvestre, depending on whether Arsene wants the left back to bomb forward.

Cb is far more important position than LB so why would you weaken the CB area massively to strengthen LB area a bit. senderos at cb versus chelski....o dear. tweety at LB is far better than senderos in the middle.

Got to be Traore at left back otherwise what's the bloody point of paying his wages every week??!! He's a left back / left winger, if two left backs are injured and he still doesn't get in the bloody team what message is that going to send him?? If he's not good enough then ship him out.

I'd def go Traore as left back regardless of the above because he has Premiership experience there, certainly don't want to split up a solid CB partnership and certainly don;t want Senderos Vs Drogba lol although he might be injured - Dr. Ogba that is

Agree, against Bent and Jones, our CD must be Gallas and Vermaelen.
Perhaps go for Sagna L/B and Eboue R/B. Or there's always Silvestre>>!

Although I understand burns' proposition and think it isn't a bad solution, I go along with the majority that believe it's probably best to keep Willy and TV together as the solidness of the central partnership is far more important than covering the Left Back position.

I also agree with Brazilian and others that playing a right-footed player there - be it Sagna or Eboue - is not the best thing to do. I personally hate seeing it. Having said that, it would appear that given Traore's injury, the only logical solution apart from Burns' idea, would be to play Tweety Pie in the LB position and hope the rest of the defence can make up for any difficiencies that may arise. Not great, but probably the best all round solution.
