Paul Merson...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Paul Merson...

Post by rigsby »

....do you like him anymore? He seems to be the most miserable, anti-arsenal pundit there is. Does he feel he has to be because he played for us? He just grates on me every time he talks about us. As someone who used to love Merse, its a sad state of affairs that I now dislike him more than Phil Thompson

Anti-Arsenal???? Don't know what you've been watching but whenever i see him it is blindingly obvious that his loyalties lie with us. Always praising our players and how they play the game. Also find him well amusing at times. No doubt that he is 100 percent Arsenal in my mind, seen him in the ground with his boy more than a few times too.

I have a lot of time for Merson.

He just strikes me as somewhat of an uneducated fool. Clearly he gave his all to football at school and said fuck this to the education side. There was a kid like this at every school.

Now he's just a media whore as he fucked himself financially with the gambling and boozing etc. He wouldn't get no work if he was pro Arsenal all the time.

Strange... I've always thought he's pretty good towards us, although he was a Chelski fan as a youngster...

Hmmm.. :?

I don't think he's completely anti Arsenal, just a little more harsh when they do badly, justifably in my opinion, and not so they're amazing when we win. Its good to see a former player punditing on tv, but like Number 5 says you get nowhere in the real world of media bullshit being pro-Arsenal.

Merse can be a bit annoying but imo thomo and cundy are so much worse. Having said that i didnt agree with merse comments on the pool derby.

I agree he always seems pro Arsenal but isnt afraid of saying things that he thinks might be wrong. I think thats fair id rather see someone look at it objectively rather than pravda / Tom Watt style

When it comes to insight he's up there in a league that consists of Robbie Earle, Craig Burley and Andy Townsend

When we win its the

"I've always said Arsenal can beat anyone on their day"

When we lose

"Not ruthless enough, don't finish teams off, vulnerable at the back"

FUCK ME SHERLOCK, DON'T TELL EVERYONE ! Why does he give away such priceless, well researched little nuggets like that. Next thing we'll all be getting paid a shiteload to talk shite
