Time for a megaphone to get the singing going! (23/8)

Usual thread starter… I remember Parma used to have a guy doing this and it worked a treat. Assuming the chants are not too industrial, I really can’t see the harm in giving it a go. Could be great to get new songs going too. And please don’t tell me it’s against health and safety guidelines or I will despair.

I really enjoy going to watch them because the atmospher is fantastic the fans don't sit down and they don't stop singing, when i go to the match i sit in the south corner where the die hard fans sit, there are 3 or 4 fans who stand infront of everyone and sing through the megaphone, "it's fantastic".
I would love to see this at the Grove although i don't think certain fans would.
My next game for malaga is on 5th Sept against Celta Vigo in the Copa Del Ray if i can get some video footage i'll get some and show you what its like.
No matter how great the atmospher is in Malaga i would always rather be at the Grove cheering on the Aresnal

To be honest i am a little wary of the every atmosphere intitiative going through the red section - we need more ''unofficial'' atmosphere blocks - as i fear the red section will start alienating a lot of fans - remember it is made up primarily of season ticket members, yet there are a lot of like minded silver and red members who would love to be apart of it or something similar - i for one have noticed the looks and comments some fans get for their ''audacity'' of singing at a football match and it would be great if there were blocks where like minded fans can sit together (unofficial blocks that is). Maybe there are some already but they need a lot of advertisement (the gooner and other fanzines can help with that surely??) to make people aware of their existence.

For me, as a ST holder in block 4 which is very close to the Red section, the biggest problem atmosphere-wise is the acoustics of the ground. At Highbury you had clarity of sound so that on days when the whole ground was in voice it sounded seriously impressive. The sound at Ashburton Grove is really sludgey. When the classic "Arsenal, Arsenal" song gets going, it quickly dies out because there are literally 20 blocks all singing at different times. For whatever reason we can't hear each other very well and it just becomes one big mess. This is why "we're by far the greatest team..." is sung more than anything else at The Grove. It's slow and means the whole ground can just about get their voices together.
All in favour of a megaphone, another drum, whatever, but in my opinion whoever was in charge of considering the acoustics of the new stadium, got it wrong.

The man in charge of acoustics was the same man in charge of ensuring that the platinum club were fully stocked with the vintage 1965 moremoneythansense red.thatbloke wrote:For me, as a ST holder in block 4 which is very close to the Red section, the biggest problem atmosphere-wise is the acoustics of the ground. So you can see why minor details like acoustics were missed.
The club don't want a bear-pit of an atmosphere at the ground otherwise they would seriously have thought about these things in the first place.thatbloke wrote:I hate to sound defeatist on this but the club can do what they want with flag days, anthems, red sectrons etc. but ultimately if you build a ground that leaks sound and price it so that the majority of fans are millionnaires you can hardly expect a bear-pit of an atmosphere.
It's like you cheating on your wife and then when your wife is angry, expecting her to explain to you exactly what the problem is...and how to put it right.
If the club had any regard at all for the majority, they wouldn't need telling.
