Lehmann out

Post by Belfast Boy »

Just been on SS news that big Jens is out for at least a fortnight after aggravating an achilles injury, most likely in last nite's friendly - will maybe be good for him!

"Injured" eh?

This gives me a chance to relay an interesting story of mine from a few years ago. When I worked up in the players lounge, I spoke to Ray Parlour one night. I forget exactly when, but he had been out injured for quite a while. I asked him how the injury was going, to which he replied "I'm not injured, I've just been dropped..."

Make of that what you will.

Call me Mr Cynical but of course he's been dropped. Yet another line trotted out by the club expecting us gullible punters to swallow.

Well, not me.

Yes, I s'pose we have reason to be cynical but why just not drop him and say he's been dropped, cos if the only argument against dropping a player is damaging his confidence then no cover story no matter how elaborate is going to fool the player who will obviously know whether or not he is truly unfit to play!
Apparently it's MA who is to step in and maybe LF will be given his debut against Prague as we are in control of the tie, but the only way we'll tell what's really going on is whether Lehmann goes straight back in no matter how well Almunia deputises while he "rests"!!!

Have to say I for one am disappointed that mad jens will not be playing saturday and its not just because i dont rate the clown that is almunia. I am going over for the game and was looking forward to letting lehman know that I am 100% behind him. Would like to see fabinski get a chance mind

Don't think that Almunia is as much of a clown as he's made out to be.

And people are talking about Fabianski getting a chance in the Prague game like that game is over...I don't think there's a chance in hell of him getting a game, and rightly so.

Finally, quote from AW:

"The problem when you get older is people say you're in decline, but I am still convinced Jens is top drawer."

Top drawer?? It's official - Arsene Wenger has finally, after years of fighting it, started turning into Ron Atkinson

Never feel safe with Almunia in goal. No matter how well he performs...you just sit their waiting for that mistake to happen. Ok Jens isn't mr perfect either but I trust him 10 times more than I do with Almunia. The guy's just too unreliable and I think that effects the whole team as for me being reliable is everything for a goalie. Ok, everyone makes mistakes but I can't remember watching Almunia for 90 min without just thinking at least onces....you bleeding clown! :x

Only got into Alummia now since he died his Barnet blonde as i remember always saying that i didn't trust him (Alummia) & always have the trust in Jens which i was more than delighted about (2005 & 2006) 8)
Alummia has a good point every year at Arsenal then he's never seen after he lets in goals & Birmingham city on his first game i shitted myself when early in th game he let in a stupid pass (or whatever it was)
