Emirates Makes Me Sick

Emirates Makes Me Sick

Post by RocastleRock »

I dont get to many game's, a hand full each season for one reason or another and my first home game this season was yesterdays game against hull. I dont want to go on about atmosphere because im aware we can struggle to get going agaist the lesser teams and thats understandable, most clubs do but what i will say is the place makes me sick!!

The row behind me didn't fill up untill 40 minutes into the game by aload of screaming girls!! who only cared about taking pictures of themselves, Didn't know any of the chants and just PISSED me off, Then there was the chinese and asian guys who where taking pictures of them selves in the ISLE!! DURING the fucking game turning there back on the action on the pitch!! and making it difficult for me to see!! Nobody seems to speak english there... what is going on.. i fucking hated it. Felt sick to the stomach.

Who was the twat stadium anouncer that didnt know some of the players names from the hull line up.. odviously not a football man..

It's shocking. Haven't been to a home game for years. I know a lot of home teams have the same problem but i'm sure ours is the worst.

Erm, if you haven't been to a home game for years (which suggests you've never been to the Grove) then how can you be so sure we're the worst??

I know we're bad but I've been equally surprised by trips to Villa, ManUre, Citeh, Everton, Blackburn, Preston, Liverpool, etc. as when they play mediocre teams like Hull, they're silent! - Arsenal away fans tend to get a distorted view of opposition fans because THEY RAISE THEMSELVES FOR ARSENAL and so we don't get to see the real, week in, week out, fans of these teams and only see them at their best... and even then they're often quiet.

I know what you mean and the tourists photographing themselves during the game even winds me up - and I consider myself unwindable !

But set against this is the fact that the Club clearly cannot sell out for all bar a handful of games each season - forget what they say to the contrary. So they need the income from whatever source passes by. If there were 60,008 people there or even that number of tickets sold then I'm Donald Duck's Grandmother. So it's all about pretence and kiddology. Although who is kidding who, is a moot point.

But this is the Prem' for you. By all accounts Old Trafford is far worse. They actually introduce Mr & Mrs 'so-and-so' from Hong Kong and give them a puff, at the half time break.

Obviously. ANY football man worth his salt should be able to rattle off the entire Hull starting XI in one breath, whilst downing a pint of lager and munching on a bag of pork scratchings... in fact, I here that's Franks party piece! :-P

totally 100% agree. it can be depressing when you want a propper football match with a bit of atmosphere, and you get there and all you see is the staff from the local chinese restaraunt
was that too much?

At least at Anfield the kop rouse themselves when needed, likewise at United in the stretford end, even at Chelsea in the Matthew Harding stand. We have 1 block repeatedly singing stand up if you hate tottenham along with a big chunk of the fans leaving early whether we're winning 3-0 or losing 3-0! I aint gotta be there to know that it's fucking *****.

If its your job to call out the names of two football teams to 60.000 people you think he would do his homework first and learn how to say the names.

And to be honest like i said i expect the atmosphere to be abit crap at this sort of game because it was at highbury and is at most teams grounds its just the people that are at the games that is pissing me off.. none caring none football following twats.. it was my mrs's first game with me and i was embarresd at the twats surrounding us. Im taking her to west ham away!! that will fix it.

For the gamour games, yes. When they Arsenal the KOP and Stretford end are fairly loud, but against Hull? Birmingham? Colchester? - you could hear a pin drop, mate.

My manc & scouse mates moan all the bleeding time about their atmosphere, and Keane didn't rant about the prawn sandwiches for no reason either!

The Grove is bad, I know that.... but away from glamour games, I've been largely underwhelmed at the majority of grounds (although, WHL & Stamford Bridge seem to generate a decent atmosphere at most games... I think?)

Agreed, that will fix it. But take her to the San Siro, Bernabeu, Nou Camp, Old Trafford, etc. and you'll be surrounded by the same twats that annoy you at the Grove. I've been to the San Siro, and from my experience it was FAR worse than the Grove for football tourists.

It's sadly a consequence of supporting a big club, but I think the positives (eg. great players, trophies, CL football, etc) far outweighs the negatives, so it's just a matter of making the most of it. And, yes, for the atmosphere/banter go to as many away games as you can, mate!
