Would you ever consider not supporting Arsenal?
I was talking to a bloke on the train going up to Wembley last night, he was a Wimbledon fan before they moved to ****** Keynes he now supports AFC Wimbledon, I asked him how and why he made the decision to support AFC Wimbledon.
He said it was a hard choice because he had been going to Wimbledon matches since 1980 watching them get promoted from the old 4th division to 1st division. Also seeing Wimbledon win the FA Cup 1n 1988 was his favourite memory.
He said the reason he decide to support the new AFC Wimbledon who was playing non league football (combined counties league), was because the way Wimbledon FC acted without considering fans on there move to ****** Keynes and other things within the club.
I asked if he regretted his decision? He said “no way, I can’t wait for the day AFC Wimbledon (The real Wimbledon) get to face MK Dons and someday become a bigger club than themâ€

I wouldn't move away from Arsenal but i did have a fought of falling out with football a couple of weeks back but i decided that i did once & it came back to me (weren't really a fall out it was a point that i wasn't going
)
The reason i thought of it as i find the prices of football items from tickets, shirt, cups etc etc being too high to afford sometimes
If there was a take over which i didn't like then i wouldn't fall out with them as if i gave up my ticket then i'd never see one again with the ammount of fans on the waiting list (40,000) & obs we wouldn't be moving out of Islington for a very long time now lol
There may be a team i have a soft spot for if i did give up on Arsenal but i prob wouldn't go to see them every week like the Arsenal & i'll never love a club so much like Arsenal again as i would turn to my team (which i don't play for) Islington Adrimal United who play up Market road every week in the PL midweek at around 6-8 & help out alot more one day becoming the number 2
I can't see other Arsenal side by the fans etc playing in the Islington area as Market Road is the only good pitch to play on despite it being Astro

I can't see it but you should never say never...Football is a funny game and anything can happen. Say in 20 years or so maybe somebody might think it would a good idea to make arsenal & Spurs into one team or if we have an Europan leage (instead of the Premiership) we might be move our stadium to Poland or something someday....you never know.

If i didnt support Arsenal, I would support Sunderland and Everton and whoever else beats the spuds this season with the exception of manure and chavski.
seriously i dont think i could ever change, I support the team, players and fans not the directors. so whatever they did wouldnt change that although it might have an impact on me going as much (if prices got stupid).
I have a soft spot for Barnet and West Brom (geographical and family reasons) but i would still want them battered if we played them.

I'm a romantic and I believe that the love of your life only comes around once...so if arsenal ceased to exist that would be it for me.
If they did something outrageous I would probably want to kick them out and tell them them I never want to see them again, but in my heart they would always be there.

Arsenal all the way!!
I am becoming increasingly frustrated with football these days tho. Extortionate fees, overpaid and overrated footballers who think they're god's gift i.e. cashly, dyer, lampard, ferdinand, and the way clubs now rape their own fans. There was a time (im only 24 so this some of this stuff was too early for me) when home and away kits stayed the same for 2-3 seasons, and we didnt have stupid european or third strips.
The premiership is becoming a playground for billionaire's who are quite happy buying up clubs, ploughing loads of money into players and then increasing ticket prices shirt prices (not to mention other items). The liverpool owners remarked that they couldnt believe how 'loyal and passionate' english fans are about their clubs. This roughly translates as we can take the piss and they're still spend money.
I know we're not quite the same as most clubs, but we're moving that way, pricing the more committed supporter out for a new armchair supporter.
The other thing that gets me is that we know have the big 4 syndrome. This big 4 are the only ones to win domestic cups unless theres an injury crisis and they limp out of the league cup whihc makes the league more dull. Then the media portray an image of clubs trying to breaki into the top4
Anyway to cut a long message shorter, id support arsenal for as long as they are in existence unless they did something exceptionally hideous to its fans i.e. MK dons kind of thinng - i know we moved a very long time ago before footballl really took off.
But im sure if that happened, or we no longer existed, trusted fans would form a new arsenal ready to abttle through the leagues and meet the spuds and kick their asses

Good point! If we ever went tits up, I would dedicate the rest of my life to rebuilding us!! I'm sure I'd have plenty of help too.tomkingsbury wrote: Anyway to cut a long message shorter, id support arsenal for as long as they are in existence unless they did something exceptionally hideous to its fans i.e. MK dons kind of thinng - i know we moved a very long time ago before footballl really took off.

But ticket price inflation is insane. In terms of recruiting mercenaries for short-term benefit, I know our club is one of the better examples around in England in this Abramovich era, and Wenger has a truly sporting approach to the game. But we all want these super star players and tell the club to pay them +£100,000 a week (what an obsenity that sort of money is). The question is: is it really worth it?
Players today (especially British players) are more often than not revolting, greedy characters: yes you, Cashley, Terry, Lampard, Dyer, the Ferdinands, Pennant, Bellamy, Bowyer, etc. It's not that players were particularly wonderful people before, but many of them are truly disgusting now.
The greed and commercialisiation are the sorts of things that could drive me away from football in general, but I don't think I could ever really support a team other than the Arse. I supported them when they were crap and I'll carry on doing so, even if we return to the mid-table mediocrity we were in the 1970s and most of the 1980s.
I just can't help thinking that one day the money-fuelled merry-go-round that is the Premiership is going to stop, all the brilliant players we've seen over the last 10 years or so (Henry, Zola, Cantona, di Canio etc) will go elsewhere, and we'll be left with a lower quality but less disgusting English game.
Believe it or not, Tom, there was even a time (which ended with an age called "The 1970s") when there was no real market for replica kits. Fans went to games in denim flares etc, had big hair, and showed their club allegiance with scruffy scarves tied round their necks. Might have looked crap but it was a lot cheaper. Solution to feeling exploited re expensive merchandise: don't buy it.There was a time (im only 24 so this some of this stuff was too early for me) when home and away kits stayed the same for 2-3 seasons, and we didnt have stupid european or third strips.

Re: Would you ever consider not supporting Arsenal?
That is quite an unusual question to ask on an Arsenal supporters forum!All_Arsenal_1886 wrote:Would you ever consider not supporting Arsenal?
Interesting though.
I wonder if anyone would actually admit to it ?
I'm sure they'd get ripped to pieces by the forums regulars. Can you imagine
GUS gnashing his teeth and snarling, IHH would go into spasms, and I hate to Imagine KAQAK's reaction.
Sod it I'll be the first.
If Arsenal don't win the Premiership title, F.A. cup League cup and the
Champions League this year I'm supporting Chelsea.next year...
