Shocking Transfers

Post by All_Arsenal_1886 »

Just reading the Times Online and read that Aston Villa are considering an offer of £15 million for Jermain Defoe

Now there has been some crazy transfers during pre-season most of all Darren Bent (£17m)

Surely Villa arent really thinking about this one, i thought Martin O'Neill was a good if not clever manager

Anyone know of a more shocking price tag than the two i have spoke about?

Rio £30m ?? this is probley my favorite

I think Robben for 24m was crazy money...
i've always rated the guy but he hasn't been in top form since the year they knocked us out the CL and suffers with injuries..

The Chelsea Chronicles:
Shevchenko £30m (30 years old, not even in 1st team squad)
Veron £28m
Crespo £16m (not the price but the fact they got nothing back)
Frank Arnesen £10m (but he's a scout i hear you say! Remember this is Chelsea)
Adrian Mutu £16m (they must have been on the sniff he was taking)

obviously plenty more....

......................

Hargreaves £17m (the worlds gone mad)
Francis Jeffers £10m (what were we thinking)
Zinedine Zidane £47m (he was 29...)

to be honest every price I seem to see these days is pretty shocking..

SWP .. £21m :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Chev$ki have contributed immensely to the general hike by paying silly money most of the time .. now, they bemoan the fact that whenever they are interested, prices get doubled .. tough luck ..

Personally, I think Defoe is underated, and will be a much better player if he had a regular start or played most of the time .. IMHO, moving to tottenham has not done him any good ... But still, 15m for him is outrageous :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Good one. In addition to Satan lookalike Veron, 'tactical genius' Ferguson has splashed the cash on:

Bosnich
Kleberson (who?)
Bellion (ditto)

and my personal favourite, Eric "Keane replacement" Djemba Djemba. So useless they named him twice. Last seen plying his dubious trade at Burnley I believe.

No idea how much any of the above cost, but as it was Manure it must've been top dollar.

lol Eric Djemba Djemba is brillant on my championship manager game, he was shite with Man Utd but i bought him for a million & after i left Arsenal (sacked for no good reason despite my winning the lot every year lol) he wasn't playing much along with the rest of my empire & was loaned out to Millwall!!! A couple of seasons he broke through the team to partner Vieria & is now a world cup winner (2010) & considered a legendly midfielder
Kleberson was also at Arsenal in my first spell & was also in a very strong midfield but got sold off by my replacement Scott Smith (whooooooo) & ruined the Arsenal team finishing at around 9th i think then Steve Bruce came along & they were fighting to be in the PL at Christmas but not before i left Chelsea & won the title in the greatest comeback of all time lol
Because it's an old game it's obs an unreal thing to happen but funny times 8)
Now back to the subject
Massimo Taibi - Manchester United
A total flop at £5million as we all know letting in the most stupid goals known to man includeing a soft Le Tis shot

Its hardly shocking though. Its not about how good are these players to be worth that much money, theres too much money available and that will lead of inflation. Dont know how long will we be fighting this lone battle against it.
