Song Hating!!!

Post by TheOne2Smooth »

Its got to stop people Alex Song is only young and still has he's best years in front of him!

Granted he may of not had many eye catching games ( well except for Charlton)

I remember the game he had against Fulham last season, he was dreadfull but so where 10 other players!
If you saw him in the Carling cup games last season he always played well
how can a player improve if we aint going to encourage him?
going back to the Fulham game never had I been so annoyed with so many Arsenal fans. I hate people who continue to find a scape goat for a bad team performance.

Anyone wearing Red and White of the Arse. can do no wrong in my eyes! sure I will occassionally moan if a player plays a bad pass of concedes a bad goal. But how can we judge a footballer if we have given up on him already?

the thing was he did worst than senderos!!!

I totally agree, give the boy a chance. I think his first game (or start) was against portsmouth maybe two seasons ago and he looked shit. But imagine being an 18 yr old (or younger) playing ur first game away at portsmouth when such players as vieira, edu, petit, gilberto and fabregas have been playing and it must be quite overawing. And yes he played well for charlton, which shows its a pressure thing - i think he can be a good player for us, but he needs experience and confidence, and a chance and fans behind him!! He's not the same as diaby, denilson or fabregas because they came in and impressed immediately. So give the kid a chance, he's one of us after all!! I could understand if he was 25 or over, but players like himself and senderos need our backing; when i was 20, and if i had been playing football and was getting booed (or could tell i was getting grief) from my own fans, i really would have asked questions of myself, and been left thoroughly confused and upset, it cant hep ur development. The problem is we're a top club and we expect players to come in and play quality football straight away. Thats a sign of what wenger has done, when we expect too much from a 19 yr old

Unlike the entire rest of our first-team squad, I have seen nothing from Song, at any time, to make me believe he can make it with us. Not even a suggestion. For my money, it is a waste of a squad player, he's nowhere near first team quality and I believe is one of Arsene Wenger's mistakes.

Soory my friend but we have hardly seen much of him at arsenal to say you havn't seen anything of him, yeah he played well at charlton and i still think we could loan him out again, and maybe try him nxt year.

i actually think he is quite good but very much a confidence player. I just think he is behind Diaby, Flamini etc for the midfield spot and that might see him moving eventually

Definetly behind diaby but i think on level par with flamini in terms of thier ability.

Well, as I can only pass judgment on what I have seen (unlike the people who are voted that Fabianski should play in goal), I say I have seen nothing from him to make me believe he is going to make it. Unlike every other player I have seen in the first team squad. For me, I have seen enough and considering we are Arsenal and the level at which we are playing, that is enough.

And how can one say that, as in the first post, that his best years are in front of him. This statement should be qualified. And re Charlton - he wouldn't be the first player to show something on loan and then....well, they don't makeit with us.

I don't want to give him another year - he is in the first team squad now, which means there is an expectation of him being available to play, now. Which means we are not good enough.

Galasso, Come off this song-bashing (TM) :P

<mounts soap box>
He shined in Charlton, and I rememebr in several MOTD episodes of charlton matches he was referred to glowingly for some wicked precise passes he was putting together .. The guy must have potential .. and no matter how good you are, if u don't get regular team spot, ur confidence and form suffer ... Managers are not so idiotic as leave behind someone totally clueless in a big club .. the guy must be doing well in training sessions, and the manager is waiting for him to transfer his training ground form to live matches ...

Its often a confidence thing, and confidence is slowly built up .. Just give him and a guy like flamini a good run in the first team, and you would not believe its the same guy.

In big clubs like arsenal, we expect instant performance .. but clubs that insist on this are the chev$kis and manures of this world who gfo for finished articlkes and are willing to fork out a fortune for them ... AW builds fron raw talent, so we must learn to be patient with the players coming through ...

Let me clarify as the same points seem to be being repeated - I do not expect players to come in straight away and perform like magic. I do not see any signs from Song that he is capable of playing for us, at our level, signs which I see from every, every other player.

For me having Song at our club, not Charlton, is a waste of time. Wenger has been wrong before and I believe he is wrong this time. That is my judgement based on the limited amount of times I have see him play, albeit I bet more than anyone has seen Fabianski play.

A small point but one that I feel needs mentioning. When Song first went to Charlton he didn't impress. It was only due to a couple of injuries that he wasn't returned to us early. This, along with an apparent chat from Pardew, seemed to give him a kick up the arse and his performances improved.

The boy may have potential but, in agreement with Galasso, we can only judge him on what we have seen and unfortunately the lad doesn't seem good enough. I doubt that he will ever be more than a player on the fringes of the first team squad.

Plus, most of what is being said is only a laugh and I've never heard him booed!!

Did you ever see what Paddy was like, possibly one of the worst finishers we ever had at the club, that's not to say he didn't score some crackers, ManUre, Newcastle etc. but Jees he hit some row Zeders in his time, I've even seen him nearly hit a penalty out of the ground!
