Spuds Away

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Spuds Away

Post by The Final Salute »

Me and a couple of mates are planning to go to the North London derby next month and I have never been to WHL but my other mates have and I was just wondering how intimidating it is to go to being a Gooner.

I have been to other intimidating grounds where the crowd can get going like Anfield, Upton Park and Old Trafford last season as well as more but I was just wondering how more intimidating for an Arsenal fan is WHL to go to in terms of the grounds I have mentioned.

I know the obvious like not to wear colours, always look like you know where you are going, do not loiter and do not stop to but anything.

I also know the policing at WHL is by far the worst in terms of protecting away fans and that the walk back to the tube station is fearsome to say the least.

So do you Gooners have any advice on a trouble free trip to the Shit hole/

There is a thread 4 pages back entitled ' Spuds v Arsenal' which has a lot of gooner's experiences of going to Shite Hart Lane. I suggest you give it a read.

Generally try to get in with majority of people on the High Rd once the game has finished. Mingling in is always best.

Thanks for the insight people just looked in the thread a few pages back.

Still think i'll go as its something i would like to experience in terms of winning at your most hated rivals home :)

What seating is better recommended upper tier or lower tier?

I've had good times there and swaggered about  70s, late 80s early 90s and I've also known some rough times there. At one point my mate was getting tickets from a spuds steward so spent a few games in the shelf and paxton rd, not a pleasant experience, had to stay rather quiet :| I hav'nt been in recent years due to virtually retiring from away games but it's sposed to be pretty hairy nowadays. I think the best thing to do is follow your own advice, don't wear colours outside the ground, look confident and know where you're going and trust the rest to luck. At the end of the day, bollocks to em. Just thank your lucky starts you don't have to do Millwall away, I remember my first time there, now that *was* scary

how disappointed i am. here was i thinking that this post was about a revolutionary new scum repellant and it turns out it's just about trips to shite fart lane, you could do with some SPUDS AWAY there!

Having trouble with thousands and thousands of spurs fans swarming around you, why not keep them away with SPUDS AWAY the new formula sure to keep all spurs fan at bay. It is a top secret blend of the scents of things that spurs fans just can't stand to be near such as benefeit fraud investigators, civilised society and of course success. keep the spuds at bay with SPUDS AWAY (WARNING does not work on potatoes)
