Is blackburn a UFC/Football/Rugby/Wrestling Team ?

Post by gunners-need-steel »

After watching several blackburn matches (including against us and man city), I have a concern that the FA is wrong to have this team playing in the football league ...

To help the FA in better classifying this team, please tell us which of the categories above best describes the sport played by blackburn .. :P :P :P

A TEAM GENERALLY REFLECTS IT'S MANAGER ATTITUDE. THAT'S WHY BLACKBURN ARE A BUNCH OF 'ROUGH EM UP' MERCHANTS. THE TROUBLE IS THAT WHEN THEY PLAY A SIDE CONSIDERED BETTER THAN THEMSELVES, BLACKBURN AUTOMATICALLY RESORT TO 'NEADERTHAL' TACTICS.

AND MORES THE PITY BECAUSE THEY DO POSSESS PLAYERS OF QUALITY - NO, NOT YOU ROBBIE!! - AND CAN PLAY ENTERTAINING FOOTBALL. EVEN DURING LAST SEASON'S 6-2 DEFEAT BY US, THEY PLAYED WELL AND HAND PLENTY OF CHANCES TO CHANGE THE COURSE OF THE GAME BEFORE THE FINAL WHISTLE.

ALAS, AFTER THAT MATCH, THEY RETURNED FOR THE FA CUP GAME WITH ABSOLUTELY NO AMBITION AT ALL. TO BE FAIR, THEY CAN POINT TO THE FACT THAT THEY EVENTUALLY QUALIFIED AND THEREFORE THE END JUSTIFIED THE MEANS - AND WE COULDN'T REALLY BLAME THEM. ULTIMATELY, WE SHOULD BLAME OURSELVES FOR NOT WINNING THE FIRST MATCH AND PUTTING UP SUCH A TEPID PERFORMANCE AT ASHBURTON.

STILL, I WOULD PERSONALLY LOVE TO GIVE MARK HUGHES A GOOD KICKING!! 8) THE GUY WAS A GREAT PLAYER BUT HAD A REALLY NASTY SIDE TO HIM. JUDGING BY THE COUPLE OF 'INCIDENTS' HE HAS ALREADY HAD WITH ARSENE OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, HE SEEMS TO HAVE TRANSFERRED THAT TO HIS MANAGERIAL CAREER. :x

personly i dont see anything wrong with changing your tactics when up against a better team, what would you expect them 2 do,, lie down and let us hammer them,, what ever works for a team then that is what you hav 2 do,, lot of hard arsenal teams in our history,, players are grown men and can look after themselfs, let your football do your talking and get on with it,, its a mans game after all 8)

No, rebel I think you are getting this wrong ... We are not referring to the famously named physical play .. we are talking about downright dirty play designed to take out players. Kicking people when you reckon the ref is not looking, pulling people down by the shirt, kneeing people in the back/head, punching people/etc when the ref is not looking or when the ref believes you should be allowed to get away with such behaviour is not football to me ...

If everyone decides they don't stand a chance in a match but to do this, do you reckon we will have football as you know it ? We will probably have something closer to rugby than football ... perhaps that might have been the genesis of rugby, who knows ... Even rugby has rules that players are expected to adhere to ... If a team is willing to be considered a good side, like you said, let your football do the talking ... evenyour hard-football ...

A line has to be drawn somewhere as to the rules of a game, and every team purporting to play that game should adhere to those rules. There may be room for hard and physical football .. but there should be absolutely no room for the new wave of dirty play thats coming from blackburn these days ...

The most disgraceful thing for me is that the referees let them off mostly .. they had a man sent off yesterday, but should have had more like 3-men sent off ...

the thing that i have been most impressed by this season is that we are competing more physically now and do have the nasty side to our play which we can use if required. I was so proud of Cesc when he fouled Repka out of that game, i would rather that kind of thing not take place at all but if the referees let it happen why should we hold ourselves to a higher standard.

I agree with rebel, no problem with Blackburn doing what they need to do to get points. If they break the rules, it's up to the referees to do something about it.

The famous Man U game that ended our unbeaten run was a great example: if the ref had done his job, he would have given 3 early yellows to United and that would have been the end of it. Instead, he allowed Reyes and the others to be kicked off hte park. No point criticising United for that, just the ref.

Anyway, seems to me Blackburn are pretty much a match for George Graham's Arsenal. They've got quality and they play to win.

But I do fucking hate that dickhead, Robbie Savage. A career ending injury would be much appreciated there...

spot on mate!! I think they play to their strengths, and if it works for them, fair play to them (may sound a little ironic). English football has always been physical and blackburn play it - people might not like it but they get results. i hardly think wenger or players complaining helps the situation - they then know we dont like it and will try harder in the future to play a more physical game. Not sure why mr wenger did complain, we should we can cope with their bruisers, and as for robbie savage - he's just as much a theatric as eboue

Yes it is up to the ref but the players can avoid going to stamp on people and the press could learn that when Blades captain punches Van Persie and Arsene complains, to not go on at how Arsenal are soft and don't like being assaulted by the heroic northerns

It is a physical game, but there are rules, this might make the referees enforce them.

U.F.G's patented letting em know you're there plan.

step 1: buy 11 of the meanest bastards in the conference, 500 grand for the whole lot
step 2: in the blackburn game field that team of eleven and have them break every blackburn players legs within the first 10 minutes, we'll be docked loads of points but teams will know not to mess with us in future.
step 3: ???
step 4: profit!
