usual thread starter… Great news eh? Everybody happy? Or are there any dissenting voices who would prefer a change next summer?

I can appreciate you asking if there are any dissenters just to allow a healthy debate rather than assume everybody is happy about this but I can't imagine anybody saying they're not happy with this news.
It's good to see him stay and along with him half of the team that would've left with him.
It's great to have a manager who brings in young players that have to work their butts off to stay on the team which only ends up helping the team as a whole. In contrast, and with reference to what the article says, it's pathetic to see a team like Chelsea where players don't really want to work for their place in the team but expect it! Ballack not playing in Champion's League and Shevchenko baffled by his lack of play? None of that with the Arsenal!

Wenger is the alchemist. As long as he's there we don't need mountains of cash. It's the best news all year for the clubs longer term future both on and off the pitch.
If I have any worries its about what will happen after he leaves, because he eventually will.
The track record for clubs who have long periods of success with the same manager isn't good. Both Man Ure and Tottenham were relegated after Busby and Nicholson retired, Nottingham Forest have sunk to depths that they probably didn't even have before Clough.
One hopes that Wenger's alchemist skills can mentor a successor before he retires (if he stays that long), but this method hasn't really had much success outside of Liverpool.

Leeds?
OK it has got a little different now, but whatever the 21st century version of relegation is (failure to reach the champions league/doing a Spurs) there's every chance it could befall Arsenal if they don't find the right successor.
There's few instances of clubs changing a successful manager who's been around for nearly 15-20 years and continuing to be successful.

Jeez, mr geezer .. the man has just signed for 3 years .. surely we have plenty of time to worry about what will happen when and if he leaves after the 3 years ... or u are just addicted to stress and worry ?

I think im right in saying that it hasn't been officially announced yet... so Arsenal.com wont wanna be jumping the gun.Basil is a Gooner wrote:Great news, but as usual, no mention on Arsenal.com......![]()
But this is fantastic news, I think we'd be in a crisis (again

In time i think Steve coppell would make a good replacment, but he'll end up at ManUsa
Great news

Cus
He's going to stay until he is no longer of this world. Then, the genetic mutations of AW that are currently freezing in arsenal labs, are going to take over to heap more misery on our angry neighbours!
