Doctor Believes Arsenal's William Gallas Is Recovering 'Very Well' And Could Face Barcelona

French defender has been a growing concern for his manager...

The doctor of William Gallas is pleased with the progress the Arsenal defender is making as he recovers from a calf muscle injury.

The injury has kept Gallas out for over a month, with manager Arsene Wenger calling it "never-ending" and his club sending him to a rehabilitation centre in France in the hope specialist treatment would accelerate his return. And Dr Michel Gaillaud, one of the doctor's treating the 32-year-old, told the Associated Press that the recovery is going "very well".

Wenger had previously ruled the former Chelsea player out of Arsenal's Champions League quarterfinal tie with Barcelona, but Dr. Gaillaud is more optimistic.

He told the AP that Gallas started running last week, should begin working with the ball this week and, if he progresses well, could be ready to play by next week's first leg at the Emirates Stadium.
