Ever wondered how good full backs can suddenly play so shit. Anything to do with one dimensional Wenger blindly playing his much loved 4-3-3 regardless of the opposition, so that Sagna and Clichy are "protected" by the likes of the disinterested Arshavin and the lazy Rosicky.
Clichy had Messi and Alves pissing all over him against Barca only for the GIC to carry on blinding playing the same way in the second leg.
I think this also answers the other thread about why we don't win the big games. It's called adapting your tactics as appropriate - something you'll see Mourinho do in the Nou Camp and something you'll never see Wenger do regardless if its Burnley or Barcelona

Wow there is someone that look a football match and see what happens. Agree 100%. Our fullbacks get no protection, wenger played eboue there just for that but the brain dead idiot was more interested in running infield for 90 minutes.
Rosicky and arshavin refuse to get back, denilson isnt quick enough to get a accross same with song.
Against the weaker teams in the Premiership it will pay dividends and he got much credit for it when we smashed a woeful Everton at the start of the season and were scoring three or more against Wolves and the like.PI7ES wrote:SteveO 35 wrote:Ever wondered how good full backs can suddenly play so shit. However, we saw at Man City, Spurs, Man United and Chelsea that it will always leave us wide open. He can't see that, and it's an obvious fact. The only team in the top six it worked against was Liverpool - a team who have abandoned playing wide men and sit with a defensive, central midfield layout.
Still, Arsene knows. Lets sleepwalk into 4-3-3 against Man City at the Emirates when Bellamy, Wright Phillips and the overlapping full backs will rip the heart out of our fullbacks again. And we can all sit and say "Hmmm.....I wonder why that happens in the big games"
Eboue is a wing back. Sagna is a fullback.the playing mantis wrote:if we can get 15 million for him, i say cheerio. eboue is just as good in his own way.........
You should see what would happen to Eboue in a 4-3-3 (and I don't mean when we're chasing a goal in the last 5 minutes). Sagna had a decent game, just didn't step up to play Monkeychops offside
