Wenger has lost the plot??

Post by WalesGooner71 »

Following our abject surrender of any lingering hopes of winning the premier league this week and our equally dismal defeat to Barca not so long ago I raise the question Has Arsene Wenger lost the plot?"

I wont just make a statement and then call for his head but I also wont pretend Wenger is God Himself and not question his decision making process??

1. Surely it would have made sense today (Wigan) that at 2-0 up early in the second half it was a perfect time to bring on Van Persie. Wigan desperate for points to stay up would have been forced to try and attack, leaving gaps that could be exploited. Coming back from injury all players need game time and what better time to play as a forward than against a poor team in need of goals forced to attack?? We could have scored 5 or 6 in all honesty and taken back a huge chunk of the goal difference we were down to the top 2?

2. It seems Fran Merida has decided to leave at the end of the season and go to Athletico Madrid on a free transfer? Whats the sense in him even warming the bench let alone come on today? If, as it appears, we has already sacrificed any lingering hopes of winning the league I would have preferred to have seen other youngsters get a chance to impress?

3. I hear all the time excuses about how we have been badly hit by injuries but it is the managers job to ensure we have decent cover for all positions - remember barca lost both their centre backs for the return leg in the CL and they still had enough cover to keep us at bay.

4. And before anyone says money.... again.......time and time again we are shown to be producing a healthy excess in terms of revenue from the ground and player sales. We were promised that the move to the Emirates would enable us to compete in the transfer market with anyone. This was from Wenger's own mouth - so either he was lied to by the board - in which case he should speak out or he was just making the right noises to ensure we supported the move?? If he chooses to speak out he will certainly earn more respect from the fans and the board would not dare sack him after that as the fans wouldnt stand for it??
