Do you take notice of EAT BY Dates?

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

BBE dates I take a lot of notice of if it is meat, but allow a bit of leeway for biscuits and tea.

Everything except seafood and dairy products ie. cream/ milk, (cheese will be allright) are probably ok for a couple of days past it`s "use by" date

Sell by/consume by dates are a lot of bollocks.

They encourage people to waste perfectly good food. And makes them go out to buy replacements.

What did we do before we had dates stamped on our food?

We used to smell it. If it don't smell right then bin it.

Also bear in mind that you can get food poisoning from stuff which hasn't yet reached it's sell by/consume by date.

Always trust your nose, eyes and tastebuds.

i think if it's only a day or 2 and not clearly rancid you'll be fine.
worst case scenario you'll be pissing out your arse every 5 minutes for a day or so
