What would appease you for letting Cesc leave the club?
If, as some of us suspect, Cesc leaves this Summer, what would satisfy you to replace him? I think we should get 45-50m min for him. I think the following additions would leave us as a better, balanced team, than we were with Cesc.
Buffon (10m)
Cahill (10m)
Jagielka (10m)
Yaya Toure (15m)
Chamakh (free)

Thing is if that were to happen, there is NO reason at all just to spoend the 50 million alone. Given that we have a transfer kitty of as much as 50 million already in place why not
Buffon (18 million - you can't believe 10 million will get him can you?)
Kompany 12 Million (can play in Central Defence and Central Midfield) or
Rodwell 15 Million (see Kompany)
Sissoko 25 million (Box-to-Box holding midfielder the next Vieira or Essien depending on your tactics)
Chamakh free (enough already said)
The real problem may be who can you get after selling Cesc - if he leaves because he doesn't believe we're moving forward who else would believe it?

If he goes, you can almost guarantee we will still spend the same amount we are likely to anyway!
However, if we could get >£40m then IF we spent all of it where we need it......Quality keeper, quality CB, maybe Arteta to replace Fab then I would be able to cope with it.
Mind you, I renewed my ST 10 mins ago online so I'm stuck with whoever we get now!

Think the Fiszman one is bang-on not so sure about the Wenger one though...Natural Born Gooner wrote:A new manager, as he is the one who would have failed to build a team around Fabregas capable of winning things!!
BTW I don't think anyone will be appeased if Cesc leaves - but we can make it work to our advantage - whether we are willing to if that happens is far less certain...

Maybe in a switch-trade with Messi + Pique + Sergi Busquets + Bojan + 20m

He won't go this summer. But he will depart in the next one if we belly flop again.
And if he does, so will the last vestiges of Wenger's credibility. He won't be able to claim anything other than humiliating defeat if that happens. So his future and Cesc's are inextricably linked.
That's why this window, is a 'do' or a 'die'.

Sorry, who are you? Not sure I can remember anything note-worthy you've ever written. Enlighten me...
