Arshavin for the middle?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arshavin for the middle?

Post by jrthgooner »

As we prepare ourselves for the departure of our best player and the one who scores and creates almost everything my mind turns to who could fill the gap.
I think Andrei should be given the chance to play in there, as he does for his country and did for Zenit before we signed him, it is his natural position and may wake him up again!!
RVP should lead the line with him behind and who knows we might even occasionally have a shot from outside of the box in a game!!!

Sgna TV ?? Clichy
Nasri AA Song/Yaya ??
RVP Chamakh

If we get Yaya,
we still need to a keeper, a CD, a left winger!!!!

Yaya won't move. His agent has said
'Toure is not going to replace Cesc. He will not play for Arsenal.
'There are very big clubs who are interested and we like these options more.'

Of course they're nice to you! but I'd bet it's Citeh.

You forgot Sczezny in goal and a back 4 of Eboue,Campbell,Djourou and Gibbs. To finish it off you get " they have great mental strength and desire and motivation to win things. You heard it here first.

I can think of a better defence: Cockwellin, Nordveldt, Bartley, Troare.

Arshavin is too lazy to play the same role as Cesc, if anything he should have been playing along side Cesc or slightly in advance, then you would have the ideal attacking midfield pairing, you have a ball player and someone who can run with the ball, with a defensive midfielder sitting behind them to cover, ideal.
The problem is we don't have a good enough dcm to play 2 such attacking central midfielders against anyone half decent.

Agree BG. Also we couldn't afford someone in the middle of midfield that loses the ball as often as Arshavin does. Having Diaby in there is bad enough!!! :banghead: :banghead:

In my opinion Arshavin's best position is probably the free role behind a striker which allows him to wander but not have to track back as much.

Nasri will go into the middle if Cesc leaves.
