Mayweather vs Pacquiao

Post by Champagne Charlie »

Bring it on!!!
Manny Pacquiao agrees to 14-day blood-testing limit

Filipino star Manny Pacquiao has given the clearest indication yet that he is willing to compromise over Floyd Mayweather's drug-testing demands.

Pacquiao says he would now be willing to take a blood test 14 days ahead of any fight with his American rival.

"I have agreed to it, but they should not draw much blood," he said.

Negotiations for a bout between the pair fell through earlier this year when the unbeaten Mayweather insisted on Olympic-style random drug testing.

Five-weight world champion Pacquiao said: "They should only take what is necessary for the drug test."

The 31-year-old, who previously said he does not like giving blood close to his fights, added: "14 days," when stating the time limit for blood to be taken before the fight.

In the run-up to their aborted March bout, Mayweather called for repeated blood testing up to the day of the fight. Pacquiao, who has never failed a doping test, wanted a 30-day cut-off.

Mayweather later said he agreed to a 14-day cut-off but that Pacquiao would not accept it.

Since then they have faced different opponents, with Mayweather beating Shane Mosley and Pacquiao defeating Joshua Clottey.

A fight between the pair, widely regarded and the two best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, would also likely be the richest in the sport's history, with Las Vegas or Dallas the likely venue.

"He [Mayweather] will no longer have a reason [not to fight]," added Pacquiao. "Let's see if that is really the reason."

Earlier this month, Pacquiao said he would have one last fight after securing a seat in the Philippine Congress by a huge margin.

His chief financial adviser Michael Konzc added that 6 November and 13 November had been set aside as potential dates for his next bout.

If it is not against Mayweather, Mexico's Antonio Margarito is his other likely opponent.

This is the most clear indication that this fight could well go ahead. Still along way to go in negotiations im sure, money will be the big issue as neither will want to go 50/50.....time will tell, but i think this means come october/november we could have the fight were all after.

[quote]By Ronald C Charles: Floyd Mayweather Sr has never been short of a word and his latest accusation is just ridicules. Mayweather Sr told CBS radio during a recent interview he feels Manny Pacquiao has had sufficient time to clean his body of performance enhancing drugs.

“Why the sudden change of mind?â€

Floyd senior talks shit. Remember he's the guy who "trained" Hatton for pacman and told us Ricky would knock him out.

The quotes dont sound like floyd senior either, he probably said something like....

"I tell you it like rap from the thugs,

that little philly boy is on drugs,

because of those steroids we say he's put to use,

thats gunna be the money mayweather excuse"

Boxer Manny Pacquiao in hospital with mild ulcer
May 24, 2:26 am EDT

Philippines (AP)—World welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao was admitted to hospital to treat a mild stomach ulcer and allow him to rest after campaigning for the May 10 congressional elections.

Pacquiao’s chief of staff, Jayke Joson, said Monday that doctors discovered the 31-year-old boxer had an ulcer during a routine checkup Sunday and his family convinced him to stay in a suburban Manila hospital for a few days.

“Really, Manny can only rest if you confine him to a hospital,â€

He also eats tacos whilst driving!

He raps alright.

He added another verse.

"Lil' Floyd bangs like beats by Dilla,
Manilla, the thriller temptin',
To make dat scrilla,
Big Money numbers makin' me giddy,
Shoutout to Fiddy,
Damn I'm pretty!"

Pacquiao 'waiting on Mayweather'
Promoter Bob Arum claims Manny Pacquiao is ready to take on Floyd Mayweather Jr in a highly-anticipated mega-fight.

Plans for a March fight between the two fell through when Pacquiao rejected Mayweather's demand for random drug-testing in the build-up to the bout.

But Arum claims there are no longer any obstacles to a fight between Mayweather and his man.

"The ball's in Mayweather's court and if Mayweather doesn't fight him, that's Mayweather's decision," he said.

Mayweather had claimed Pacquiao's refusal to undergo blood tests up to the day of their proposed fight meant the five-weight world champion had something to hide.

However Filipino Pacquiao stated he had concerns that giving blood so close to a fight could have an adverse affect on him, but, in May, he relented and said he would be willing to take a blood test 14 days ahead of any clash.

88stockmj
And, speaking at Yankee Stadium where Miguel Cotto won the WBA light-middleweight title from Yuri Foreman, Arum insisted Pacquiao, also in the audience in New York, is now desperate to see the fight go ahead, with Las Vegas the preferred venue.

"I'm telling you now, I've had long conversations with him, Manny Pacquiao's first goal is to get Mayweather in the ring and this whole drug-testing nonsense - I think it was nonsense, but Manny has now agreed," he said.

"I live there and I've no problem with the fight being in Vegas, and I know Manny has no problem either.

"There are things that I know that you don't about why Las Vegas will go to the last mile to get that fight and I would think that Las Vegas has to be the front runner."

If both camps can come to an agreement, the sport could be set for the richest fight in its history.

Since their failed negotiations, Mayweather (41-0, 25 KOs) has beaten Shane Mosley in Vegas on a unanimous decision while Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs), who was named fighter of the year by the Boxing Writers Association of America on Friday, dominated Joshua Clottey in Dallas.

Fight could be on the way!!!!

Isnt it funny, all this drug testing nonsence and surprise surprise the fight looks set for Vegas the only place in the states where it is legal for mayweather to have his Xylocaine injections in his hands.
