Gaza's "aid" ships - Any question will be answered

Post by DanielD »

I would do the best I can to represent my country on this situation. I watched some BBC\Sky, and the reports are not at all accrurate.

Anyone with a question regarding this, please ask.

I'm sensing you're talking about the whole Israel vs the Arab world (Syria, Iran, Palestine, etc).. Right?

The situation is so complicated that I don't there will be a solution for all our problems with our neighbours in my time..

It's ok DanielD, the Israeli position is very well represented here in the UK media. It's the Palestinian spokesperson we are missing. It would be nice to hear both standpoints.

Do not know what news you have watched today, but both sides given airtime on BBC and Sky.

I watched the BBC coverage where Ayalon gave the Israeli position. I have not seen any interviews with Abbas from the Palestinian side. I only saw the one piece on it this morning.

I have searched on the net for other details. If Sky and later BBC news gave a more balanced coverage than the one I saw this morning then that is a good thing.

That's not balanced at all.

Israeli soldiers are being portraid as if they were shooting as soon as they went down from the helicopter. They were attacked viciously by the "peace activists" with knives and metal bars as soon as they boarded the ship. Our soldiers had to respond, if they wanted to live.

Just so you understand the situation. The first soldiers who dropped from the helicopters were armed with PAINT GUNS.. We never ever wanted this to get to a battle.

Another point is that 5 of the 6 ships that were on that "peace" trip were escorted peacfully to the Ashdod port where all the aid will be delivered to Gaza after being checked by Israeli authorities (for weapons). The sixth ship was the one where the people on it attacked the israeli soldiers.

I want anyone who think the Israeli soldiers did wrong today, to watch this video, and than comment on "the killing of innocent people"..

Several Palestinian politicians and a Syrian politician were interviewed.

This forum is full of people who may only get their news from certain media channels who are very anti-Israeli. As an Israeli, I feel it's my responsibility to bring OUR side of the story.

I'll be honest, most of the world isn't in favour of Israel. The other side is weaker and smaller, and even though it's lead by a terrorist organization, it's supported by most of the countries in the world.

Israel is being pounded again and again by the international community, on things that are idiotic. I'm trying to do the best I can to change it (one person that changes his mind about us, is enough).

Hey daniel I understand that you want to stick up for your country and rightfully so.

When I looked at those vid's you posted I was shocked, BUT you have to realise the source of, and limitations of those videos.

What happened before this footage? How do we know shots weren't fired before that footage started, how do we know they weren't?.....we dont.

Only those who were there really know what went on.

The one question that footage did pose for me, why on earth were they being lowered down to the waiting mob?

I have just watched the start of channel 4 news and this footage was shown so it is in the public eye over here.

I know very little on the subject but just had to say daniel that you cannot watch footage like that and come up with an immediate conclusion. There will be plenty more videos in the hours to come that contradict these videos im sure.

As Quartz may remember from previous discussions, if we carry on with the topic then it will not end in agreement. I have seen the footage I was directed to. I have read the statement by Danny Ayalon. I cannot see this incident as anything other than state sponsored terrorism of an oppressed people by a state which constantly rides roughshod over international law.

For the good of the forum, I will stop posting. I would never have posted on this topic but when innocent civilians on a humanitarian mission are massacred it is a bit rich for you to come on and attempt to explain it away. Tragic incident; vile thread.

I hardly think that Israel needs sticking up for - they've got the USA to do that for them.

Why did the forces need to board the ship anyway? ... to make sure there weren't any weapons on there. That's a bit hypocritical isn't it? The only reason they'd have weapons is to protect themselves from Israel.

Incidentally - were any weapons found????

Fuck me.. WHY would they not go to the Ashdod port than and get the food to Gaza? WHY would they attack the soldiers boarding the ship?

It's not a bloody humanitarian mission, it's a cheap propaganda trick that worked, if you look at the comments in the world.

I'll bet my house Hamas are celebrating right now!
