Haye vs Harrison - Are you having a laugh!!!!!!!!

Harrison 'opens talks with Haye'
Audley Harrison's camp says it is "in discussions" with WBA title-holder David Haye over an all-British heavyweight showdown later this year.

Harrison, 38, has vacated the European crown he won with a last-gasp knockout of Michael Sprott in April.

But the Olympic champions says he will be ready to fight in October having recovered from a torn pectoral muscle.

"David Haye is a false prophet. One punch and that chin will shatter like glass," said Harrison.

"If I was him I'd keep running from the Klitschkos and keep beating up on shop-worn American heavyweights.

"I'm told by my promoters that both David Haye and the Klitschko brothers have expressed an interest in facing me when I return after rehab.

"If it's either Klitschko brother the task will be hard, but that's how I want it. I respect both brothers as they are effective at what they do but both can be beat.

"Whatever the route I will find a way to fulfil my destiny and become heavyweight champion of the world."

Haye's manager and trainer Adam Booth was unavailable for comment on Tuesday.

Vitali Klitschko, 38, is the WBC title-holder and laboured to a 10th-round knockout of Poland's Albert Sosnowski in his last fight last month.

Sosnowski held the European title before Harrison and was scheduled to fight the 2000 Olympic champion in April but opted for a clash with Vitali Klitschko instead.

Wladimir Klitschko, 34, is the IBF and WBO title-holder and was scheduled to fight Haye last year, only for the Englishman to withdraw with a back injury.

Haye went on to fight Nikolay Valuev for the WBA belt instead, outpointed the Russian in Nuremburg last November.

Haye, 29, knocked out former world champion John Ruiz in nine rounds in April, since when he has been non-committal about his future.

But Harrison's promoter Eddie Hearn has no doubts as to what Haye's next move should be, calling a match between the two Londoners potentially "the biggest the UK has ever seen".

"Everyone wants to fight Audley because they know what he brings to the table," added Hearn, the son of veteran promoter Barry.

"He will be installed as the mandatory challenger for the European title but we are also in discussions with the Klitchkos and David Haye and Adam Booth regarding a world title shot later this year.

"Audley's last two appearances in the UK have attracted record viewing figures, so couple that with David Haye's popularity and the fight is huge."

Since winning gold at the Sydney Olympics, Harrison's professional career has been a rollercoaster affair and before his victory over Sprott in April he had never been in possession of a recognised title.

His career looked all but over before his triumph in Barry Hearn's Prizefighter heavyweight tournament last October and he was behind on points against Sprott before producing a stunning left hook in the final round.

And while Eddie Hearn might be overstating things when he says a match between Haye and Harrison, who used to be close friends, is potentially the biggest in British history, it would certainly appeal to many boxing fans.

WHAT A JOKE IF THIS FIGHT HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!!

The fight we all want to see is Haye VS one of the klitschko brothers. If Adam Booth cant sort that fight then what the hell is going on?

Wladimir called Haye out and wants the fight....so whats the hold up, Haye needs to back up the two years of calling the brothers out!!!

And has to realise that he'll be taking us for mugs if he fight Harrison!!!

I differ on this one.

I said to a mate a couple of years ago when Harrison lost to Sprott, that virtually anything is possible in the strange universe called "Heavyweight Boxing", and that do not be surprised if Harrison gets to fight for a word title.

When Harrison won Prizefighter that looked a step closer.

Haye is right to fight Harrison. It is an easier fight then the Kltischko's, and it will earn him cash and more fame in the UK. Negotiations with the Klitschko's are reported to be tricky, so Haye might as well make hay while the sun shines.

You know what?

Harrison has the big punch to KO Haye, though I would suspect Haye would KO Harrison in about the 10th.

What really bothers me is Harrison isnt even a top 10 ranked heavyweight.

There are loads of bigger fights on the world stage for him. Povetkin, Chagaev, Adamek, even a rematch with Valuev.

It comes down to what you want in your career. Does he want legacy or just loads of cash?

Haye make the right decision fighting Ruiz in his last fight, he was fighting and established world heavyweight, who is a name over the pond. It gave him a much larger profile over in the states and worldwide. Fightinh Harrison is massive step back.

The only reason Harrison is even in the position is tv ratings, his last two outing the first being prizefighter were to of the highest ratings sky boxing has had apart from ppv in the last year. So sky will definetley be pushing this before a klitschko fight.

So for me it will be interesting to see what Haye does, if he wants to take a step back why not fight Evander Holyfeild, that'd make him a nice earner and raise the profile more than against Harrison.

A stupid fight for Haye to take, he has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Harrison doesn't deserve the shot or the big pay day and Haye shouldn't give him it until he has earned it by actually beating someone worth talking about..

There is only one reason i would like to see this fight happen and that is to watch Haye give Harrison a beating, cos he is an asshole of the highest order...

Looks like this fight is a step closer as Vlad had decided to fight Povetkin

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/8777709.stm

Klitschko set for Povetkin bout
Wladimir Klitschko will defend his IBF heavyweight title against Alexander Povetkin from Russia, delaying an expected bout with Briton David Haye.

Klitschko's management firm announced it would promote the fight, but did not confirm a date or location.

"I am very happy that we have won the bid and will promote the fight," said Klitschko on his firm's website.

In April, WBA champion Haye announced that he was in talks with Klitschko to stage a title fight.

The announcement came shortly after Klitschko, 34, had taunted Haye in a video message.

Haye has also said he wanted to fight Wladimir's older brother, WBC champion Vitali, in an attempt to unify belts.

But little has been heard of either of the proposed clashes since April.

And Wladimir Klitschko's decision to fight undefeated Povetkin, the IBF's number-one ranked challenger, means a fight with Haye is unlikely to happen until next year at the earliest.

Povetkin, 30, and Klitschko had arranged a fight in 2008, but it was called off after the Russian injured his ankle.

While Povetkin has won all 19 of his fights so far, Klitschko has registered 54 wins and three defeats.

Wlad isnt taking steps back in his career. Haye take heed.

Povetkin has a better chance vs Wlad than other recent challengers.
He will have a good game plan devised by Teddy Atlas, and throw decent hooks.

Well its now official and is on the same day as pacman vs margarito so im sure will be a ppv which you get both fights :banghead:

Pacman is usually free over here but, ill now have to pay because of this heavyweight fight.....onto that.....

WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sorry but David Haye has gone down massivley in my opinion. He spoke about legacy, about fighting the best, only three more fights.....blah blah, and the he signs to fight Audley fucking Harrison!!!!

I dont buy the money excuses, as Haye had signed a deal with W.Klitschko and pulled out (they seemed to come to an agreement then).

Haye is de-valuing his title massivley by fighting a guy who isnt even british number 1 let alone being in the world top 10.

Sorry David but it just seems to me your avoiding the K2 brothers at all cost.

Harrison does not deserve this title shot, has never lived up to expectation because quite frankly the guy is lazy, he'd made over a million with his bbc deal before ever fighting a pro fight, so it seemed the motivation was gone, and this has been shown almost every time he has stepped in the ring.

For this fight to be PPV is an insult to boxing fans, but they can justify that by billing it with the pacman fight (good business move).

Haye is taking a big risk as at heavyweight there is always a punchers chance. Haye should absolutley blow Harrison out of the water and can see Haye finishing it within 5 rounds. I just really hope Harrison doesnt catch him with a lucky punch like against sprott, as Harrison as world champion would be a terrible for the heavyweight boxing scene.

Im really dissapointed in Haye about choosing this fight but I also think Adam Booth has a lot to answer for. Lets hope Haye wins and then starts backing up his claims to be the best, by fighting the best.

The state of heavyweight boxing is absolutely dreadful at the moment. Fraudley has done nothing to deserve this title shot, I'm a big Haye fan but pretty annoyed with him taking this fight. And why are two londoners fighting in Manchester? :banghead:
At least the fight build-up will be entertaining

Haye said he wants to retire next year, so it seems to me he is all about business rather than being about business and establishing a legacy as an all time great with loads of title defences.
Fair play, he has to take the punches, not me!
A fight vs Harrison fits into that well, it is minimum risk for decent cash as far as the heavyweights go, I think Harrison's only chance is landing a big punch, because Haye outclasses him.

But I agree, why are two Londoners fighting in Manchester?

I think its in Manchester because both the o2 arena and wembley arena are already booked, and probably wont sell out a footy stadium so sticking it up north.

Haye had better hope he is still quick enough to keep out of Harrison's reach. Audley may be a bit of a joke, but he is a joke with a jack-hammer left hand - just ask Michael Sprott - 11-and-a-half rounds of dominance followed by seeing stars and medical treatment.

I think Haye is showing himself up by giving it all the talk but not going far enough to make the Kitschko fights happen.
