Gallas, Campbell & Silvestre released?

Gallas, Campbell & Silvestre released?

Post by projoe »

Gallas is a goner from the Gunners
Arsenal have released French defender William Gallas after failing to reach an agreement over a new contract.

Gallas joins Chelsea’s Joe Cole and Michael Ballack as the most high-profile casualties as Premier League clubs release 124 players from their contracts this summer.

The 32-year-old France star had been demanding a new two-year contract on wages of £80,000 a week.

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said last month: “His demands are extravagant and I don’t think we are prepared to go along with it. He is a good player, but you have got to draw the line somewhere.â€

Silvestre is under contract until August. So we won't have released him yet, otherwise we'd have had to pay him off.

Usual, The Mirror bullshit.

Their contracts have expired, not really news, just a sensationalist twist

Just like he HAD to buy a striker in January. To me and you we would assume he would bring in some center halfs. But Wenger will probably be happy with TV and a player who wouldn't get into any of the top 10 teams.

This thread is similar to the other one about contracts.

Just to point out (like in football manager ) a player can be out of contract but still be at a club. He will still be paid but on a week-by-week basis. (rolling contract)
Obviously, as the player is out of contract he and or the club can choose to leave.
