Mate gave up his S/T. B/O have asked for a letter to confirm

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Mate gave up his S/T. B/O have asked for a letter to confirm

Post by Nwankwokanu »

Mate has gave up his season ticket, arsenal have asked for a written letter to confirm this so he can get a refund on his unused credit.

Here is the letter he sent.

Dear Sir

After having my season ticket since I was 14, (Bergkamps first year with us). I have now decided to relinquish my seat.
There are a number of reasons for my decision most notably the fact that we pay the highest price for tickets in Europe but have a team that seems to be going backwards and is no longer the force it once was.

Wengers policy of buying potential just isn’t working and to build a team around a player (Cesc) who is clearly intent on leaving seems ludicrous in the extreme.
I also think even Wenger now realises as Capello does that Theo will not become an Arsenal regular.
Unfortunately Wenger seems too stubborn to change his policy so I for one can only foresee another 5 trophy less seasons in the future.

This isn’t the same arsenal that I first started to watch 15 years ago.

I look forward to my refund.

With a heavy heart.

Sad that it has come to this, but do the give a fuck? cause not. Enough fans on the waiting list.

wow - just typical of the JCL's that plague our club... after 15 years I've got the hump because of the last 5 and I'm spitting the dummy... good riddence to your mate.

He'd wanna try being a Gooner in the 70's and 80's... :(

He would gain more respect were he to go next season and voice and show his discontent every week.
I do however understand his reluctance to hand over his money to a board that are simply taking the piss out of him and everyone else. And a manager who has become obsessed with his dream of building a team from scratch at a minimum coast to his employers. Yet as your mate stated Arsenal fans pay the highest ticket prices in Europe.

To be fair db I think that he was only complaining about the way the club is being run now and his only mistake was that by doing so in a summerised fashion made him look like a jcl whereas if he had of gone into more detail (citing lack of squad investment, managerial negligence etc) it might have made him look slightly better

So this bloke started watching us 1995.
Coveniently in time for joint greatest period in club's history.
Now things get a bit tough he turns his back?

No doubt there are issues with the team which we debate at length on here, and if he has financial problems then I can understand that, but for any other reasons it is nonsense.

For me and many it is a case of "To have and to hold, in sickness and in health"

I have very little time for fickle fans.

We had a bunch of overpaid under performing players during mid 70's and mid 80's. Not as well paid as today, but well paid in relation to average wage nonetheless.
Say what you like about today's players, but they are as fit as fiddles compared to pre 1996 players (when not injured).

Lots.
They are very much more professional in terms of lifestyle than pre Wenger era players.
They are well paid, and put in the proper physical preparation for their money.

It is other aspects of the team that need attention, but the stamina, and agility of players has not been at fault under Wenger.
Their ability might be questionable, but they do not turn up hungover for games.

Football has changed at every level, in every country. Fitness and lifestyle should be expected as standard, without being lauded. They get paid to perform, show spirit, determination and character on the pitch in games. Which can be questioned.

It can be for some of our players.

But we also need to question the instruction the players are getting in training, because for me, that is a crucial issue and particularly in terms of defensive positioning and tracking back.

I think proper physical preparation by today's players should be lauded, because it is the physically toughest league of the top Euro leagues, and the injuries are frequent and serious.
Compared to the mid 70's - mid 90's players, our current squad are much greater athletes.
