WTF are those Black boxes. (?)

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

WTF are those Black boxes. (?)

Post by Boomer »

Basement this please mods later but....

Can someone answer these for me and yes I've googled!

In London recently black squared boxes, usually on the pavements road side, have been appearing. In rows of about 10 or so and around 10" sq.
I've seen them being put in and I'm guessing it's something for the future as there's a metal casing underneith.

Anyone know what I'm refering too!
and does anyone know what they're for?

Surly the Irish slab layering contingent should know or have contacts!

**** keeps his snacks in them.
Being a cabby he visits up at various locations round London in the course of a day, so has his top up supplies conveniently located where he can just park up, grab a snack, and get back into the cab within 30 seconds.

I've been informed that they're for the new london cycle scheme. Most pavements have been widened and as I imagined the metal boxes would house some of the electrics.
Make's sense as most I think of are on Cycle routes.

It's the scheme that boris is bringing in. I'm assuming is for the post/pillars where you pick up these pay-as-you ride Bike. ONce you pay for and the clamp is released (hence the leccy!) and you ride off to another part of London and park the bike at another one of these post/pillars.

I hadnt heard about this scheme but then i dont live in London so maybe thats why. They tried a similar thing in somewhere like Oxford a few years ago i think and so many bikes got nicked they stopped it after a couple of months and seriously loads of bikes were found in Liverpool :D

Yeah what is to stop you just nicking off with a bike? Or do you have to register your c card details etc??
