As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Very difficult to make a judgement this early but… as it stands, who would you rather see partner TV5 at Anfield in a few weekds – Koscielny or Djourou?
We have seen very little of both (for different reasons) but both have very different skills, in my view.
Kosciekny is very slight and relies on anticipation and positioning to stop attacks. He likes to press early and high up the pitch – very much in the manner of TV5, whereas Djourou is slightly slower but a lot bigger and stronger. He is fantastic in the air and (when his timing is right) very powerful in the tackle.
Both still young and both will develop, I’m sure… but who gets your vote to be thrown in at the deep end?
In my view, Rigby’s right – each time JD has been called upon he’s done pretty well. He has all the attributes to be a great centre back – he just needs to stay injury free and play.
We just spent £10m on Koscielny to be a starting XI centre back.
Djourou is complete shit.
In all fairness that is complete and utter crap - I have always felt that djouru had all the qualities to be a great centre half for us but seeing as he has been inj for so long I am concerned that he has lost out on that development stage. There isnt a doubt in my mind that as things stand he should be way ahead of koscielny (spelling that all season is going to be a pain in the arse ) who has admitted he is too lightweight and has no fcuking experience in our league and fcuk all elsewhere for that matter Why do people automatically assume a new signing is gonna be great ?
It's based on me thinking that's he's complete shit.
Can we have a little adult time now?
To get back to the point... I'm not sure either of them will play a whole season. I still think we will bring in someone else more experienced. Hopefully Mertesacker? But possibly Jagielka.
However, if the choice in hand remained Kos or Djourou, I'd say Djourou because he has at least a little experience in the Premier League, whereas Kos has little experience above L2.
