usual thread starter. Apologies to all those who have debated this ad infinitum, but we print what we are sent.

To be fair to the club on this one, they wanted to introduce the anthem by stealth rather than appear to be ramming it down people's throats. And I think it may be working.
At the last couple of games, there has been a round of applause at the end of it so people are definitely conscious that it's being played at every game and maybe that's the signal for the club to take on board some of the ideas expressed in the article.
I went to the Ice Hockey at the O2 Arena over the weekend and you have to say that those yanks sure know how to enhance the atmosphere, although some of the stuff is pretty cheesy and would no doubt be met with groans at Arsenal. However, I quite liked the way they picked out two people who were in the cheap seats (at the back of the upper tier in ice hockey) and "upgraded" them to the best seats in the house at ice-level with nice comfy seats - sometimes it's even a sofa I'm told. Perhaps the club could offer something similar as a prize for a fan at each game picked out by the cameras singing along to the anthem? A seat next to Wenger on the bench maybe?

I think its a crime that people would rather hear this crap Elvis song that ive never heard of over 'Good Old Arsenal'.
This wont be the Arsenal version of Liverpool's 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. You wont get thousands of Arsenal fans holding up there scarves and singing this boring song. Get back to reality.

Elvis is in the building
I think the idea of an anthem is a good idea, but as it has been said many times, this song isnt it. It needs to be simple and a known symbol of the club.
No doubt I am going to be accused of treason here but I hate the "Good Old Arsenal" anthem. I sing it but every time I do I can't stop thinking what a rubbish song it is and that for as long as I can remember it has always been a rubbish song. If I have to choose between a Jimmy Hill lyric and an Elvis classic I am going to pick Elvis every time.
I can think of far better songs than this Elvis one.
Its a football match, not X Factor, and 'Good Old Arsenal' is a well known and liked song linked with Arsenal Football Club.
If you want to start talking about the credibilities of music then we can have a completely different conversation which I would only be too happy to have. There were better singers in the 50's, 60's and 70's than Elvis anyway.
