Another May 26th player ill

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Another May 26th player ill

Post by SammyDroppedHisShorts »

What with the loss of David Rocastle to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, i just found out that the Liverpool player Gary Ablett has also been diagnosed with this aggressive form of cancer.

For those who are unaware Ablett played for Liverpool on the night we won the title at Anfield.

As much as he was not one of my favourite players, i am sure as footy fans we wish him well. I certainly do.

Was one of the players surrounding the lino and I remember it was his reaction that said the goal was standing.

Anyway, best of the luck to the bloke.

I concur with everyone else above...wishing Mr Ablett well and my thoughts go to his family.

Is this linked with playing football for many years? I know there have been several illnesses/diseases that have been linked with playing football.

It sure is. Lost my dad to it in 2008 and nearly lost my mom to it in 2003 but thank Christ she beat it.

Hope Ablett beats it. 8)
