Arsenal Fans

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Are we too ungrateful for constant european football?

No- I support arsenal because I want to experience victory but I'm too lazy to achieve it myself

I choose Option 3: No, but as we are not far from having a team who could win SOMETHING, and have been told by Gazidis that we have the money, I expect the OBVIOUS problems to be recitified.

I am under no illusion that we are much stronger than in the mid 80's, or the mid 90's.
Belt tightening has happened since the new stadium, and that is fine with me, even if directors said to the contrary.

What winds fans up is that we have have not seriously competed for the title for two seasons.

I am all for Transition Seasons if they help the team rebuild, "One step Back to take Two steps forward".
Trouble is, there seems to have been no progress with the team since summer of 2008.
These are the first years under Wenger when it feels like we are going "Backwards".

We are not light years away from other teams, and my feeling is we need two or three more players to make us competitive again (Goalkeeper, Centre Back, Ballwinning midfielder).
The accounts show some money is available for players, but it is not spent.
That is surely Wenger's decision?

Most importantly of all, we need a new defensive coach.
For a top level club such as us, our defensive organisation and inability to hold onto leads is simply unacceptable.
A defensive coach would not cost too much, and we have a proven one in Keown, yet he is not employed by the club.

These faults have been apparent since summer 2008, yet not rectified.
It is very worrying.

I went for the 4th Option

Is the guy who wrote this thread a twat for saying were ungrateful?

I say fuck yes

No way am I ungrateful!!! I spend my hard earned cash and make my self skint in order to buy my season ticket and attend away matches. I spend even more fekin money on over priced food and beer in the concrete hole we call home.
I then spend money on sky just to watch arsenal when I get home. I spend money on the cuntin website just to watch shit coverage on ATV.
I stupidly buy Arsenal tops that cost £45 every season.
I spend train tickets costing £25 for each home match and then the costs of away matches up north.

If i want to moan about wankers like flappy then its my right like it is with other fans. It is also my right to be disgusted that we have not invested in the team yet again after telling us that it would happen.

I agree QG

That is the feeling amongst a lot of Gooners is we are going backwards.Last season was hailed as a success by some but we lost NINE league games and conceded 41 goals
Dont care what anyone says Wenger threw away the title in 2008 when a couple of signings would have made all the difference. And that has been the story ever since
Are we better than the early 80s and 94-96 yes of course we are.But Wenger has to be judged on what he achieved pre 2006.And the league table doesnt lie.The club is now happy just for CL qualification. No one the board or Wenger are willing to take that one extra step.So we are stuck as we havent been bad enough to finish outside the top 4 or be good enough to push Chelsea and Man Utd.But now with Man City getting stronger that 4th place is no guarentee. The problem is the club has become to complacent,60,000 fans every game top 4 finish every season. But what the fans want is us to compete and to win some silverware.
And i dont believe we will win anything as long as Wenger is still our manager

I've got to totally agree with the posts from Quartz, Mikey and Donaldo, the author of this thread must be living in cloud cuckoo land, if he is happy with his lot.

I congratulate him, for being oh so patient, with our precious, rich under-achievers.

I choose the option, none of the above.

People had a pop at the club from when I started supporting them and going to games, which was mid to late 70's. Likely before that too.

your under the illusion that just because your not satisfied with the squad it gives you the right to call our manager "a tosser" and give verbal abuse to our keepers . I don't that culture of slagging off your own players just because they aren't any good . Did the fans do that to perry groves back in '89? no, he was practically given cult status.

He used to get terrible abuse from the terraces and stands alike, because he was shit, he played like a headless chicken, his cult status has only come about, because he's a good talker, and mixes it up with the Arsenal fans and media, this doesn't mean he was a good player, because he wasn't.

Did you ever see him play live?

I do not like our players getting booed etc.

But you cannot imagine this is a modern trend.

You should have heard the groans from the terraces when Martin Hayes was announced.

Or maybe you did, I do not know how old you are?

I don’t see flappy in the same light as Perry. Yes Perry was shit but he was part of the team and everyone’s mate.
I stick by my words I think Wenger has turned into "a tosser" he cares about himself, the board and his stupid failed plan. His last thoughts are for the fans and for the real well being of the team. He is a liar and he has created a weak team of over paid non passionate players such as diaby, denilson, flappy who shouldn’t wear the arsenal shirt never mind get paid so much.
He refuses to admit he is wrong and fills us all with false hope for the last 6 years now! Enough is enough! 2-3 years I can take but not this long.
I am not sure if you go most matches Norris, but when you travel to places like Wigan and loose the way we did, it takes loads out of you and kills your spirit.
I’ve never known Arsenal football club to feel this way, yes we have a great stadium, are making lots of money, and are always in the top 4. But do we have spirit, crowd togetherness, a passionate heart warming club or a united love between players and fans. Not anymore and not even close. To be honest it’s very cold supporting Arsenal these days, and sadly Wenger and the board are to blame. They have taken away so much and replaced it with corporate crap attracting the prawn sandwich brigade that will line there pockets even further.
WENGER continues to frustrate the crowd with his team selection, his constant errors and his stubbornness in not buying crucial players. And all because “he feels players like flappy , denilson ect are goodâ€
