MOST UNDERRATED ARSENAL PLAYER IN OUR HISTORY

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

MOST UNDERRATED ARSENAL PLAYER IN OUR HISTORY

Post by merson_is_god »

I was thinking about this and I've heard a lot about Kevin Richardson and Brian Marwood.

My opinion is Gilberto Silva, Edu and Kevin Campbell.

Who do you think?

Agree with that Frank.

Those were the days when we left Stoke with something.

... and also Lee Dixon....

I remember Bould's first game, can't remember who it was against, but he look slightly suspect in the air, he could head the ball, but it didn't go very far, but he was quality on the deck though, his heading also improved throughout his time at our club.

stevie bould and nutty winterburn stand out for me, while gooners loved their never say die attitude it seems the rest of england including the national managers at the time never gave them the proper respect there play deserved.

others could be

brian talbot
steve williams -a nutter
kevin richardson
and even david o leary who many on here dont like but for a long time was our longest serving player and who stayed at arsenal his full playing career even when he could have gone many times , so he deserves better.

That's a good call Reb, he's the type of player we could do with now... :?

Can any of the famous 'back four' really be underrated?

They're called the 'back four' for a reason, and are still talked about by the media in 2010.

I can see your point, and yes the media do talk about them today, but during their playing time, the media didn't really rally for their call-up (T.A apart), as there was an even more anti-Arsenal stance then, than there is now, and I believe, imo, that affected their chances, hence, why they didn't get the caps they deserved.

In terms of being talked about now it has to be Brian Marwood. The man won us the league that year.

Paul Davis
