"Groundhog Day"
"Groundhog Day"
I haven't seenn this movie in quite awhile but thought it was worth revisiting today
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107048/
"Connors awakens the next morning, however, to find it is again February 2, and his day unfolds in exactly the same way. He is aware of the repetition, but everyone else seems to be living February 2 exactly the same way and for the first time. This recursion repeats the following morning as well, over and over again.."
The movie's conflict which is re-living the same day over and over has to be resolved and Bill Murray's character hass to take action to make changes for that to happen
"But as he comes to the realization that Groundhog Day may be his fate for eternity, he also comes to other realizations, such as that his actions have no long term consequences, but that knowledge, especially as it relates to Rita, can be a powerful and dangerous thing. But he is given opportunity after opportunity to get the day "right"..."
Now some sarky Gooners have taken to referring to the last several years at the club - where the same pattern of losing key players replaced by unproven youngsters who inevitably have to play moore than they should because of injuries resulting in Arsenel winning nothing over and over each year - as "Groundhog Day".
In fact you can see the similarities between Arsenal in recent years and the movie. Every year we have been a decent side that was one or two players from being a really good side, either because we were unwilling to invest in keeping those players we already had, unwilling to invest in replacing those players we sold or let leave for nothing, or simply unwilling and unable to replace them when they became injured. So every year instead of winning a trophy or two or even contending to the very end we have fallen frustratingly short the same for the same reasons.
Just as Bill Murray's character had to figure out what was happening and why and what he had to do break this cycle and wake up on a new day, so do we, since no matter who is making these decisions, it's obvious they will continue to be made this way at least three more years at Arsenal unless we try to influence what is happening and it will just be more of the same awful unpleasant Groundhog Day we have been experiencing with our Club.

Your stance may well have some foundation. However, I have no interest in reading you banging on and on and on about the same thing all the time. You have your point of view, you have tried to do something about it - that is to be admired. But you're now flogging a dead horse as far as this forum is concerned. Any good points you may have had have been smothered by the fact that you have pushed them so much and have pissed most people off - even those that probably agree with your views.USMartin wrote:I guess its easier to target me then just whine and bitch about how we come up short the same way for the same reasons every year, and to

every time its happens like you're shocked than to do something, eh dvbris?
I have no interest in starting an argument with you. I respect your opinion, even though I think it's nonsense - that is my opinion. What I don't agree with is your forcing it down our throat's in every post you make - in this case making a spurious link with a Hollywood movie. You've made you point, now leave it alone on this forum and contribute as the rest of us do. Please.
Thank you for trying to tell me - and as I am a member of this forum - the whole forum what to say and how to say it. That's not censorship, though. What is it imposition of will? Thought control?dvbrisgooner1 wrote:Your stance may well have some foundation. However, I have no interest in reading you banging on and on and on about the same thing all the time. Between you and LDB
it is clear that some people are perfectly happy to expect its their right to decide what this forum should and should not discuss but are unwilling to take responsibility for t=what they are really doing which is tryiong to censor all of us., because when you censor one person this way you censor every person. There are times where censorship is appropraite and justififed and people trusted to make that judgment and they have done an excellent job even when I have disagreed with them. I'd trust them to continue that here.LDB wrote:The thing you have to realise is that every significant point and rebuttal you have to make has been explored to death by numerous posters on this forum and yet still you continue. The scope for debate has become zero leaving no other option but to tell you to shut up which results in you throwing around laughable accusations of "censorship".
And yes i could choose to ignore you, just like i could choose to ignore a screaming child thats been at it for hours... but why should I? When you post in a public space you should attempt to show reasonable consideration for what other people want to read about.
I'm sorry you take such offense at waht I post . I m sorrier that you state you share any of the same concerns but no desire to act on them. Whatever your reason in your mond for that at the end of the day doing nothing is doing nothing and its your choice, no matter what excuse you offer to comfort yourself about it.That isn't a criticsm - it's a reality that would apply to me every bit as much in the same instance.

Didn't understand a word of that.
Whatever you want tosay...I think wer know better.
You'd rather do nothing but still reserve the right to complain about the consequences I guess. Did you understand that?
I was willing to offer you a chnce to prove that was wrong in that earlier, but I guess you're not just happy but proud to just piss and moan forever and because that's better than actually being happier about the team.

If you made a post every couple of months about the board, fair enough.
I like others want to see a stronger playing squad.
I do not entirely agree with your theory on the board, it is well documented that I believe there are a few wider (non board) factors at play as to why we are not as competitive as we were, but you have every right to speak on your views.
But a new thread every couple of days?
I just do not understand it.
Really I do not.
You have every right to petition, we live in democracy, but maybe if you posted on some of the other 250 or so Arsenal Forums/Blogs, plus Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Myspace you would get more signatures, instead of flogging a dead horse on here?

Let's look at the lastb thread I had posted on this last Tuesday - you know where I went on and on saying the same things the same way I always do that was hi-jacked by several posters who resent my views, let's see how I went on-and-on and forced them to act because I was being sooooo inconsiderate of them by beating a dead horse again. Here it is below:QuartzGooner wrote:USM

Holy shit! Look at that, he's at it again another endless diatribe spewing the same garbage over and over that we can't help but read. How rude of him! How inconsiderate of him to beat us over the head over and over with his views and then to do it again!USMartin wrote: http://www.gopetition.com/petition/38786.html
