Chairman Usmanov!!!!

Post by gus ceasar is a legend »

Thought it about time I asked one of my serious questions instead of titting about!

I don't wanna know if its right or wrong as that's been done to death elsewhere!

What I do want to know is the difference you feel it will make to you if Usmanov does take control of the club with Dein as his lieutenant?

Personally, as a fan of Arsenal I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference to me! Before the Kroenke and Dein situation the vast majority of us I suspect couldn't give a fuck what percentage was owned by who!

Sure if you hold a small stake in Arsenal then you have a financial interest there which needs to be kept an eye on. Surely though we would still support Arsenal through and through and I would be stunned if people stayed away etc just because our new Chairman resembled Jabba the Hutt.

As a supporter I am starting to think that it is a dangerous thing to mix your passion for the team with the politics of the club! We would hate it to happen at boardroom level so why do we get so caught up in it ourselves?

Personally, if the present board go and someone else comes in, whoever that may be it will change very little for me as long as the team is kept as the main focus of the club!

Should a takeover happen, which I know the vast majority are against, I sincerely hope we do not allow this to distract us supporters from our primary role....getting behind the team!

As we all know Ashburton, as wonderful as it is can still seem a bit soulless at the best of times! I would hate to think that something we in reality have very little control over would be allowed to override something we can effect....the atmosphere we create for the team when we get down to the proper business of Arsenal Football Club!

To tell you the truth this whole takeover story is starting to give me a headache.
I've got to the point where I don't really give a shit what happens.
I am an Arsenal supporter, and I'm into watching good football.
As long as that is not affected, I don't care what goes on in Hill-Woods conference rooms.

We, as a club seem to be in a healthy position, so ,to coin a phrase

'If it aint broke, don't try to fix it'

Well if it ain't broke, then you should be against a one-man takeover of the club of this nature?

I don't know where to start with this really...

So, I am going to take a breather and come back later. It's too early and I haven't had any coffee.

I am against a one-man takeover, It's just that I've got to the point of realization that whatever views I have ,make absolutely no difference whatsoever.

When did Hill-Wood etc ever take any notice of what you or I thought.

And sure no-one's going to hear us if we don't say anything at all It's called protest and taking a stand for something or against something.

I just don't like the idea of my club being owned by one man, it's not the fact it's Usmanov, it's because i look at chelsea and see what they have been through and i don't want us to go through that, ok so Chelsea have had 2/3 successfull years but how long will it last? The cracks have already appeard.
Arsenal seem to be a stable club where the board and the manager see eye to eye and understand each others needs, we are one of the only clubs to have this and we are lucky.
Horrible thought, Usmanov takes over Arsenal have great season and win silverware and then Usmanov decides he wants to bring in a 'world class player' just like Chelsea just to appeal to a worldwide fanbase, he wants thr club to be run his way, he wants to make the decissions and he turns us into the new Chelsea, and then because he sees a good profit sells us onto the next Billionaire who wants something to keep kim occupied for a few years. :? :(

Missing the point completely I'm afraid!

Still doing the same thing on the rights and wrongs of a takeover!

What I was asking is imagine its happened........to you and me the punter on the "terraces" how does it affect us in real terms!

I accept Rebel's point about dividends being paid and money going out of the club but that is a business matter that will be counteracted buy the way the club is run. Nobody in charge of the club is going to bleed the coffers dry as this would have a negative effect on the value of the club. If the finances remain healthy and wse still have the pot of gold to strengthen the playing staff etc then does it really make a difference?

As for the chairman buying the star player the manager does not want we are getting a bit carried away with only one instance of this happening in English top class football. Whatever a pillock Usmanov is, I can't see him forcing unwanted players on Wenger.......he is well aware that Le Boss would simply not stand for it and would walk away and again that is in nobodys best interests! Wenger himself has made his position on playing matters very clear with his statement declaring he has no objection in a Director of Football as long as he can tell him what to do! Whoever owns the club will be buying into the Wenger philosophy and will surely keep it as lets face it, it revolutionised not only our club but English football in general. A good example of the "aint broke so why fix it" viewpoint people have!

I will be quite honest in saying I don't really give that much of a toss who runs our club as long as it is in a sound way! I am realistic enough to accept that the amont of money involved in the game today means that clubs are run as a business and hence have to show profit and loss etc and also be open to change so as to move with the times.

What I am getting at is it will be a fucking sad day when Hill-Wood or Usmanov become more talked about than Wenger, Toure, Van Persie or even Song! Not once before this takeover nonsense have I worried about the board have had to say apart from the times when a new manager has been appointed......and thats because that DOES affect me becuase it will have a huge bearing on my weekend and possible mid-week happiness!

Not once as a kid did I have a poster of Dein or Lady Nina on my bedroom wall as frankly I couldn't give a fuck because all that mattered was the team and as long as the team continues to do the business, I will now continue to not give a fuck!

Van Persie's left foot is of far more interest to me than Kroenke, Dein, alleged Russin gangsters or Edelman because frankly thats what matters and not the propoganda we are all being spun byall and sundry!

Rant over!

I can understand where gus is coming from, and he doeshave a very valid point. I would still support arsenal whether the fat russian succeeds or not, and as fans we should spend more time talking about the people directly involved in playing than the boaard. This is true, and thats the way it should be.

But having said that, I believe that if this guy succeeds, we would not be able to keep his antics out of focus and be able to focus just on the football. This is because all his actions and utterances so far show his thinking is wrong for the club. He wants to take dividends, if he puts money in it will be a loan, he has demonstrated he has no integrity by making all sorts of contradictory statements, and there are signs he is likely to regard the club as a toy and thus be inclined to force his ideas about footballing style/team members/etc on the club.

However much we may try, this guy looms sinisterly larger than life in front of us, and we may need some intervention by the state or FA to get rid of him.

I personally would prefer not to have a 1-man owner for the club, but if we must, let it be someone who has some history of working in democractic situations than a communist-oriented despot/autocrat.

I am with Gus largely on this point now to be honest. The whole potential takeover thing has gone far far beyond saturation point and is a distraction, more for the fans than the team, but a distraction all the same. From my own point of view I am feeling like a leper as lately I have been lambasted by all and sundry regarding my even watered down defence of DD so I wish this whole saga was resolved one way or another and fast. If we thought that change of ownership would not have a detrimental effect on the way the team & club is run then I think we would all be ok with that no matter who is in control but we cannot 100% dismiss the possible negatives of an usmanov takeover so rightly or wrongly it is detracting from our prime issue and that is the team. Have to say though that maybe all this off pitch turmoil is helping the team in that it is taking some of the attention from the players and they can go about their jobs quietly without the extra pressure they would normally be receiving. My support for The Arsenal though, like most of you, goes back many years now(mid 70's) and I will always always support The Arsenal no matter who is in charge. Once you take Arsenal into your heart there can never be another

Augie

First love is true love :!: Quite right, will always be there no matter what happens.

And I don't think we have to polarize the DD issue into those for and against him. I would love to see him back doing what he is, and has been, most effective at. But not at any cost.
